Yep! On my way home I had a guy honking at me to move over at the light on Fullerton because he wanted to turn right (so he could get to the next red light 15 seconds eariler). I declined and he had some choice words.

Something else I've seen happen on numerous occasions is drivers in small cars driving through this gap in the curb for the crosswalk on the SW side of the monument.
It always amazes me when drivers complain about "lawless" riding behavior when they constantly do stuff like this.
This morning as my oldest and I were riding eastbound on Logan Blvd, a driver was tailing us for three blocks until we turned off at California. Now unobstructed, they proceeded to speed down the service drive, blowing every stop sign until I lost sight of them. This is a normal occurrence.
A Google Maps screenshot of the Logan Square boulevard system from Palmer Square on the south to Logan Boulevard on the north. The service drives have been highlighted red. Text with arrows pointing to the service drives reads "Driving here? Prepare to drive slow!"
As a cyclist in Logan Square, I consider it a sacred duty to make driving on the boulevard service drives as slow and annoying as possible. I will be polite to you, but I will not get out of your way.

Chicago Anno Domini
Did someone else on here stumble upon this same <CHAD> house in Cicero or are there many of these. I know I have seen it before. What does it mean?
It's really embarrassing that in 2026 we're still building these terrible townhome developments where most of the open space is consumed by driveways, and what meager green space does exist is completely unusable. Such a waste of a great site.

Part of the reason it feels unsafe to me is the quick succession of light-dark-light-dark as you pass under the Metra tracks and the Kennedy makes it tough for drivers to see whatβs in front of them. Making the left onto Marshfied is especially harrowing, imo.
Is the Wolves-Nugs stream terrible for everybody, or just me?

A map showing an annotated path from Logan Square to Lincoln Park with different segments labeled Pleasant, Unpleasant, or Frightening.
I rode from Logan Square to the Lincoln Park Zoo with my youngest in the bike seat yesterday, and 85% of the ride was really pleasant. There's only one short segment that feels unsafe, but that's enough to scare off most people. Extending the 606 across the river would (will π€) be huge.

Who needs a barge crane when you can just put a crane on a barge?

I got quite lucky to be by the boathouse during a sudden downpour.

Looks nice, but a design issue is evident in the last picture: the raised crosswalk is preventing water from reaching the nearest storm drain, and a pretty deep pool has formed inside the PBLβs concrete barrier.
There were at least four CSO events yesterday, so it's probably safe to assume there are more happening today given the additional rain.
@keely_h222 19h We flew to Chicago today to see Connor graduate. Definitely not a fan of Chicago but glad we could come
My favorite post genre is randos getting dogpiled after throwing shade at Chicago.
You gotta feel a little bad for Lawson here. Iβm pretty sure heβs been acting chair longer than either of the last two committee chairs presided. The unabashed identity politics feels like a weird anachronism in 2026.
This was a victory for the mayor, but an embarrassing one. 16 alders flipped, including most of the Black Caucus. This administration is absolutely terrible at whipping votes.
No, that's not a lighthouse. It's Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial, the world's largest Doric column.
It was built to commemorate the Battle of Lake Erie, one of the largest naval battles in the War of 1812.

I havenβt started reading it yet because Iβm working my way through the other book, Design of Cities by Edmund Bacon (Kevin Baconβs dad, no joke).
