Yesterday was a moment of redemption for me…3 years ago, I made a Chantilly birthday cake for my wife that failed in all the aesthetic ways. Yesterday, it all came together (not perfect, but I’ll take it!). A then-versus-now comparison:

So, VERY much incorporated into daily life 😂…I see nothing wrong with this.

Plus, a rotating selection that rests at my piano (currently, ‘The Art of the Hobbit’ and previously ‘The Letters from Father Christmas’). And the “overflow” shelf, these books are no less loved and will find their place. ❤️

Absolutely! Same for me. There is ALOT to unpack in that chapter and I was definitely not ready to fully appreciate it then.

It’s the “coming back” to Tolkien’s works that have become the most gratifying, over the years.

Re-reading the Book of Lost Tales with friends (first time cover-to-cover)…currently in ‘The Cottage of Lost Play’ and I cannot escape it (nor do I want to).

The revelation that the new ‘The Collected Poems of JRR Tolkien’ contains the poem (and fantastic Scull & Hammond analysis)…🤌
