So I'm gonna take a moment here to talk up my buds at #dorktales who are going to be streaming tabletop RPGs on twitch all weekend for #extralife!

If you have never heard them run extra life, you should give it a shot. They'll be running between 8am-1am Fri & Sat and 8am-9:30pm Sun!

Your country has a short history, but you've faced SO MANY crises. You will get through this too, and on the day your country is free of Trump and his psychotic government, I look forward to going back to visit again.

Because they WILL improve. Don't listen to the doomsayers who tell you there's no hope. Don't listen to the people who tell you that America has never faced a greater crisis. You've faced a civil war. Two world wars. The Cold War. The Spanish flu. The Covid pandemic.

I simply don't feel safe crossing the border as long as Trump is president.

I miss visiting my friend Adam in Minneapolis, and I want to visit Ashland and see the Shakespeare festival again one day, but for now I know that it's not a good idea, best to stay in Canada until things improve.

I love going down to the States, especially California. Honestly, Disneyland and Universal Studios are my happy places, especially around Halloween when all the spooky entertainment is out.

I'm not going this year. I'm probably not going for the next three years after that.

illustration of an otter with a tie, a namebadge saying 'Steve' and a cup of coffee. Text reads: Do not seize the day. That only startles it, and nobody wants to deal with an aggressive day before coffee. Approach it slowly. Avoid eye contact. Maybe offer a polite nod. Act casual. If the day growls, starts making demands, or mentions shenanigans back away quietly and return to bed.

Advice to live by.

I'm Canadian. There were a few close friends of my parents that I called 'Aunt' and 'Uncle' and in fact still refer to them that way today. Uncle Charles and Aunt Claudia are my godparents for example, Aunt Jan and Uncle Cliff were good friends of my parents, etc.

It's not uncommon, for sure.

Hi! No, Fiasco, I am not going to bodily remove your sister from the shark bed just because you want to sleep in it, so you can stop giving me that look, thanks

I feel bad for her, because that's some serious internalized misogyny there. I mean I can't imagine what it would be life to believe that my gender identity is based around the chores I do.

That's my feeling on the Fabled Lands gamebooks. I REALLY want to get into those but they have so many random events where you just auto-die if you roll like a 1 on a d6 while passing through the area.

Genius display. I hope the occupants stay safe and don't get murdered by some passing MAGAt.

This is amazing. And it’s truly the stuff of nightmares.

Already done :)

I get the frustration. I'm frustrated too but I know it's important to be realistic.

We should all do what we can but we have to look after ourselves.

Yeah, you're right. Thanks for the reminder.

They knew that whether it's your country or not, if it's your ideals then YOU should fight for them, not just demand that other people fight and die for your beliefs.

So either stop criticizing and accept that they're fighting as best they can...or get down and help.

5 months ago 0 0 2 0

Because if they did, they couldn't feed themselves. You're literally telling these people who are our allies that they should go out and die while you sit back in your armchair.

There's a reason that people in the UK who spoke up for Greek independence went to fight in Greece.

Nice deflection, but you're missing the point.

The fight against fascism knows no borders. Americans fought in plenty of wars alongside Canada, but again...that's a deflection. We're not talking about that.

We're talking about the fact that you're telling people to do things they can't do.

Best one I heard about was a burlesque show called 'Illumi-naughty'

There are no borders when it comes to fighting fascism, but it seems that like so many Canadians you want other people to take risks, fight your battles, while you sit back and do nothing other than abrogate responsibility.

You can't sit back in safety and scream at others for not taking risks.

Because I literally said it in my comment and then pointed out that I said it in my last comment?

There is no 'collective of you' in this case, you know that. You didn't read my comment carefully, made a mistake, and now you're defensive about it.

What do you mean 'my' country? We're in the same country, I said I'm Canadian.

You know...I think we've found an agent provocateur here. Trying to provoke people into taking drastic action?

5 months ago 1 0 2 0

So really...you aren't helping at all. Call these people when you've gone across the border to help them with protests. Call them when you've given up YOUR life to protest 24/7 and want to serve as an example so they can see it can be done. Until then? Belittling others is not providing support.

5 months ago 3 0 2 0

You are not being realistic. You are instead attacking people who are on your side, accusing them of not doing enough while you sit back. You think you're helping, but you aren't. You think you're being encouraging, but you aren't.

What are YOU doing that isn't belittling people online?

5 months ago 4 0 2 0

I get the anger as a fellow Canadian and I sympathize, but we also have to be realistic. No one can afford to protest 24/7. They have to work. They have to support themselves. They have to feed themselves and their families. They have to sleep. They have to maintain their social connections.

Trump raises tariffs on Canada by 10% in retaliation for anti-tariff TV ad Move is response to ad sponsored by Ontario that referenced Ronald Reagan’s support for free trade

www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Oh look, now he feels he has to punish the entire nation because one person made an ad that made him look bad.

These are the actions of a little child.
