I keep thinking about this quote from @drkatemarvel.bsky.social. Climate scientists have been gaslit by so many parties for so long that it has worn on their gifts of critical thinking and introspection. Today, perhaps, anger is lighting new fires. "Maybe we didn't do anything that wrong." Indeed.

I'd venture that a particularly cruel detail here is that some projects were cancelled because they'd used climate language to satisfy Biden-era requirements... and that same language became a death sentence under Trump.

One Illinois state climatologist said: "If we're studying climate change, to not name climate change feels dirty." But a grant can be the difference between a graduate student getting a paycheck or getting let go.
