My first post-surgery 'round': 4 Wainwrights today on the 8-mile Greenburn Round above Grasmere. Sunny beginning, increasing wind, driving rain for most of the descent. Loved it! So happy to be properly back on the fells #LakeDistrict
Lovely up on Fleetwith Pike this morning (though had to clear litter, scatter firepits, and carry down seven abandoned water bottles ...) #LakeDistrict @kitzingercelia.bsky.social
A good walking week, despite very mixed weather.
26 boots-on hiking miles, including 5 Wainwright fells.

Snow-capped Skiddaw, with field of ewes and lambs in foreground
Snow-capped Grisedale Pike, with trees in mid-distance and ewe and lamb in field in foreground
Fresh snow on the tops and newborn lambs in the fields this morning. Very windy in the northern #LakeDistrict
Sue scrambling up a rocky slope on Catbells, Derwentwater beyond
Sue at the rocky summit of Catbells, Derwentwater behind
Early start to beat the holiday hordes on Catbells, on another blue sky day in the #LakeDistrict - pretty windy though. First bit of scrambling for new knee (worked OK!) and 18th Wainwright summit since surgery 12 weeks ago

Quick ascent of Castle Crag this morning with @kitzingercelia.bsky.social, ahead of the coming storm #LakeDistrict
Along the High Rigg ridge this morning, and back through St John's in the Vale. Daffs looking good at church - and stopped to pay our respects to John Richardson #LakeDistrict #dialectpoet @kitzingercelia.bsky.social

Small figure on ridge, on descent to Troutbeck from Wansfell
View towards Derwentwater from summit of Castle Crag. Conifers in foreground, a misty Skiddaw range beyond the lake
This week's total towards #nhs1000miles: 22 hiking miles, including 4 Wainwrights. Not bad for a 12-week-old knee! #LakeDistrict @kitzingercelia.bsky.social

Sue descending towards Troutbeck
Sue headed towards the Mortal Man pub in Troutbeck, daffodils in the foreground
Gorgeous day in the #LakeDistrict - perfect for testing out my new knee over 8 miles & nearly 600 metres ascent/descent. (She did well - might just have been headed for a liquid reward in pic 3) Thanks to @kitzingercelia.bsky.social for the pics
Sue striding out across a gold & brown Whinlatter Fell, blue sky & white clouds above
Grabbed the weather window today, for a (sunny + windy) bimble up on Whinlatter with @kitzingercelia.bsky.social. Pouring with rain in the #LakeDistrict now
Sue - in pink - on summit of Barrow. Heather flanks the path in the foreground, and the 'knuckles' of Causey Pike rise up behind.
Sue taking the last few steps up to the rocky summit of Walla Crag. The view behind her is Derwentwater and its islands, looking west.
11 hiking miles this week - making the most of the (limited) weather windows in the #LakeDistrict. Included 2 more small Wainwrights: Barrow and Walla Crag.
YTD 103.5 miles - a little under half of what's needed to be on target for #nhs1000miles - but not too bad with an 11-week-old new knee!
If you missed the hearing as it was happening, you can watch it now on the court's own YouTube channel here. It's "Re Gardner (Deceased)"

Week 8 for new left knee, and my highest boots-on hiking mileage this year: 18 miles. Pics from this weekend's outings with @kitzingercelia.bsky.social and Keswick Rambling Club. #LakeDistrict #nhs1000miles
Little figure in red (me!) crossing a golden tussocky slope towards the brown brackeny summit of Barf. In the further distance is the Ullock Pike ridge (green conifers on lower slopes with purplish heathery rock above), and beyond that the rocky slopes of Skiddaw and Skiddaw Little Man, where patches of snow persist, especially along the edge of the ridge. Blue sky above.
En route from Lord's Seat to Barf today: another gloriously sunny one in the #LakeDistrict
Thanks to @kitzingercelia.bsky.social for the pic!
Great to be celebrating Lakeland icon Beatrix Potter on International Women's Day!
Thrilled to see the William Heaton Cooper backcloth - painted in the 1930s for the Grasmere Dialect Plays - at the Grasmere Village Hall this afternoon. (It was 'lost' until 2015, when it was rediscovered rolled up under the stage: www.thewestmorlandgazette.co.uk/news/1413859...)
I'm having one of *those* mornings....
Sun eve check-in for #nhs1000miles. 11 hiking miles, with 2 more Wainwright fells, for me this week (week 7 of new knee). Pics are from my longest/highest hike to date: the Knott Rigg - Ard Crags ridge. #LakeDistrict (Pics by

Sue (in blue): a small figure descending an icy ridge on Great Mell Fell. Two more lines of hills visible behind her, under a grey sky - the further hills still have patches of snow
Week 6 of new knee and 13 hiking miles completed towards #nhs1000miles. Two more Wainwright summits: Sale Fell and Great Mell Fell. Pic is of me navigating the remains of the snow and ice on Thursday, as the thaw began to set in. #LakeDistrict
