That’s my work over for the week and I’m starting my fortnightly four day weekend with a Gravity Well-Full Circle Brew Co collaboration, this 6.8% ABV West Coast IPA. As I have no records relating to “Centripetal Force”, I’m listening to Path Through the Forest by The Factory.

Seven inch record of Itchy Twitchy Feeling by Charlie Drake, 1958.
A photo of 1950s-60s comedy actor Charlie Drake in a patterned suit, elaborate cravat and oversized hat.
This record jumped at the charity shop pile because it had a nice company sleeve. I’ve been keeping my eye out for a UK pressing of this by Bobby Hendricks (I’d like the Swallows’ version too) but I’ll take this old British comedy actor’s attempt at rock’n’roll.

I finished work and felt I deserved a mid week beer - Voyager’s Return, a 5.4% ABV West Coast Pale Ale from Gravity Well (Tottenham, London). Sun Ra’s Arkestra was the first space themed record that came to mind so that’s what I’m listening to
Obviously I do already have a UK pressing of the original version. Which reminds me that Capitol Records in 1958 released it as The Johnny Otis Hand Jive, as the couldn’t handle “willy” and “hand jive” being in the title together. Two years later, Columbia had no problem with it.
I picked out some records in the charity shops with yesterday because they had good condition company sleeves. But being a collector rather than a “DJ” these days, I might just be a completist and keep them for my UK rock’n’roll section
I strolled around the local charity shops with an old friend this afternoon. I bought two 45s. Then we stopped for a quick drink - I had Stand and Deliver, a 4.5% ABV dark mild from Howling Hops (Hackney Wick, east London).
He was a popular and busy man through the sixties and onwards, in film and tv, as well as recording and songwriting. I remember seeing him still popping up on various television shows in the 1980s.

This UK pressing of “I Shot Mister Lee” by the Bobettes was too cheap to pass up. The last copy in this condition to sell online went for £50. And I do love my bargains.

Glass of beer and beer can
Sunday beer - Smell-o-Scope: Strata, a 5% ABV hazy pale ale from Gravity Well, London.
Saturday afternoon beer: Shall I Give You Dis Pear, a 3.4% ABV pear & guava sour from Gravity Well. I’m not a fan of sours but I’ve been assured that this is on the less sour end of the scale and very refreshing. And they were right.
I’ve had a 1975 reissue of The Fickle Chicken by The Atmospheres (1959) since I was a teenager but I do like getting original UK pressings. And this one was cheap enough that I felt I had no choice. 😊

Glass of beee and colourful can with the Electric Comic Book album by the Blues Magoos.
With my Wednesday work finished early, I’m relaxing with Siren Brewery’s 6% ABV Playlist hazy IPA and with the Blues Magoos on my playlist.
Only one record took my fancy while out and about on my fortnightly Monday off work: You’re No Good by Betty Everett (Stateside, 1963 - originally on Vee Jay Records in the US).

Saturday beer - Timeball, 5.6% IPA, Time & Tide Brewery, Kent
Luke Akehurst, Labour MP for Durham, is on record as saying that Marxist Jews are not really Jewish. He is not Jewish, and has never faced investigation or censure from Labour. He is on the right of the party.

On Vista del Mar, between LAX and the ocean, you can get a rough idea of when the sidewalk was laid down. Someone scratched “Beatles” into the concrete and someone else put “Elvis” underneath.

That’s my four day work week finished. Now to ease in to my four day weekend with a DIPA from Full Circle Brew Co (Newcastle Upon Tyne). Whoops. I just noticed that it’s 8% ABV. Ah, well…
I’ve been looking after our neighbour’s cat for six days. He’s been sweet and mellow. But now he knows his dad’s back and he wants to go home again.
Anspach & Hobday Is a brewery from South London but as I’m drinking their very tasty Hop Pickers’ Pale (4.2% ABV), I think some music from Kent is appropriate.
