Congratulations! This is so cool

I loved washing dishes and would have kept doing it much longer if I didn't get one 10 minute break every 8 hours and if they provided me with a working fan during the summer.

One of my favorite aspects of Irish art is the gold wire work. The twisting designs were influenced by the Viking occupation of Dublin (900s), which added another level of complexity to the cloisonné metal and stonework.

I modeled the art nouveau border after Urnes style Viking line work.

Oisin wears simple laborer’s trousers, but I put in some subtle tartan in honor of Irish wool mills. He wears steel hobnail boots, a remnant of his days in the WWI trenches. Steel has high iron content, a ward against fairies. Frost gathers on him, a consequence when you kiss the prince of winter.

Cu Roi, the fairy, is wearing clothing inspired by Irish medieval styles and the tunic worn in the original painting. The huge sleeves of the leine (undershirt) are so romantic, as is the embroidery on his belt.

This is one of those paintings that has had an outsized impact on art history. It’s a small watercolor held in the national gallery in Dublin, only on view two days a week to preserve the colors. I didn’t have the privilege to see it when I was in Ireland, but I’ll be back for it someday.

An art nouveau take on "Meeting on the Turret Stairs" by Frederich William Burton. Two lovers embrace. One is a fairy with bull's horns, one is a small trans man. The painting is in shades of teal and brown.

About once a year I do an art.

This painting is for The Cold Forge, a deeply Irish fairy romance between a trans man on the run from the fairy queen and the exiled demigod warrior he bullies into protecting him.

Inspired by Meeting on the Turret Stairs by Frederich William Burton.

This kickstarter is a collection of short stories from DPP's first few years as a press! Pick it up to get a charcuterie board of stories and discover new authors. This is the best way to get a taste of everything DPP has to offer.

Chuck Schumer likes to imagine how his politics play with an imaginary middle-class middle-aged couple on Long Island, but I don't think he realizes that couple is currently constructing a guillotine in their suburban backyard and stockpiling Molotov cocktails.

A lot of people are mad about this and calling it 'self interested' and I dunno man if the point of activism isn't to get people to change their minds what are we doing here?

I really do love this book so much and this is the most romantic stabbing I've ever written. You will swoon.

The climax of my romance novel includes a stabbing AND a beheading. Normal romance stuff.

Finishing things is such underrated writing advice. You need to learn your habits and what tools you use not just to have an idea or start a story, but to finish them. You need to get used to it, and then observe how you can do it better. That starts by finishing stories at all.

This puts me at 10 people released. I filed my 1st habeas petition 29 days ago. I am an incredibly small-time, nobody lawyer who knew nothing about immigration law the day I submitted that case. I barely know any more today. I had never sued the federal government and now I've beaten them 10 times.

Hi, I was the oldest daughter.

I am not allowed to be creative or flighty. I will not get support or grace.

I need to have a backup plan for the contingency plan, because if anything goes wrong, it will be my fault.

I'm writing an edit letter for a friend and started out with "this is a great story and you really don't need to change much" and then proceeded to ramble for 1000 words.

I stand by it being a good story! That gives me more to ramble about...

It's Official: the Cybertruck is More Explosive than the Ford Pinto - FuelArc News We now have a full year of data for the Cybertruck, and a strange preponderance of headlines about Cybertrucks exploding into flames, including several fatalities. That’s more than enough data to comp...

The Ford Pinto had a death rate of 85 people for 10 million cars sold. The Cybertruck hasn't sold 10 million, but the fatality rate so far maths out to 1,452 people killed per 10 million sold.

The Cybertruck may be the deadliest road car, for the occupants, ever sold.

IF YOU'RE UNEMPLOYED IT'S NOT BECAUSE THERE ISNT ANY WORK
JUST LOOK AROUND: A HOUSING SHORTAGE, CRIME, POLLUTION; WE NEED BETTER SCHOOLS AND PARKS.
WHATEVER OUR NEEDS, THEY ALL REQUIRE WORK.
AND AS LONG AS WE HAVE UNSATISFIED NEEDS, THERE'S WORK TO BE DONE.
SO ASK YOURSELE, WHAT KIND OF WORLD HAS WORK BUT NO JOBS. IT'S A WORLD WHERE WORK IS NOT RELATED TO SATISFYING OUR NEEDS, WORLD WHERE WORK IS ONLY RELATED TO SATISFYING THE PROFIT NEEDS OF BUSINESS.
THIS COUNTRY WAS NOT BUILT BY THE HUGE CORPORATIONS OR GOVERNMENT BUREAUCRACIES.
IT WAS BUILT BY PEOPLE WHO WORK. AND, IT IS WORKING PEOPLE WHO SHOULD CONTROL THE WORK TO BE DONE. YET, AS LONG AS EMPLOYMENT IS TIED TO SOMEBODY ELSE'S PROFITS, THE WORK WONT GET DONE.

The whole linked article is informative and shows us how the 'European marriage pattern' of people marrying later in their 20s greatly benefited society and helped NW Europe achieve the advances it did over its neighbours (something you can also read about in ECONOMICA by Victoria Bateman)

They really DON'T think the arts involve skill OR dedication.

I know that but it gobsmacks me whenever I see it demonstrated.
