So proud of my wife @daralind.bsky.social .

Her latest for NYT explains what mass deportation probably will look like so people know how to prepare for/defend against it www.nytimes.com/2024/11/21/o...

Signing Document Banning Swastika Symbol
(Original Caption) 2/28/40-Tucson, Arizona: Florence Smiley and Evelyn Yathe, Navajos of Tucson, Arizona are shown signing the imposing parchment document which formally outlawed the Swastika symbol from designs in Indian art, such as basket and blanket weaving. Four tribes, Navajos, Papagos, Apaches and Hopis banned the symbol which was in use by the Indians long before it came to have a sinister significance. The document tells why Indians banned it.

36,000+ followers on X, 48 on here, and already I'm so much more at ease. I'll never forget a year ago, losing 15,000 followers for posting history about Southwest Natives rejecting the swastika in solidarity against Hitler. That's when I knew it was time to go. Here's that image again, btw.

Police at Standing Rock Are Using Life-Threatening Crowd-Control Weapons to Crack Down on Water Protectors | ACLU

It's a tough day tbh. 11/20/2016: Police attacked the #NoDAPL Water Protectors on the Backwater Bridge, #StandingRock using water cannons, tear gas, rubber bullets, & other "less-than-lethal" weapons in sub-zero temperatures. 140+ came away with police-induced hypothermia. I was living @ the camp.
