Now I need to go back and listen to Douglas Adams talk about kakapos again.

Thank you for making me aware of the kakapo cam. This is the best thing I've seen all day!
So, if this goes ahead as proposed, in the long run, the city will have traded two architecturally significant structures for a pair of faceless parking garages. Ouch.
The west garage would go up on the site of the old Cleveland Play House complex, which included their original 1926 theaters and Philip Johnson's polarizing 1983 expansion, all razed by the Clinic in 2023.

The east garage would be built on the site of the art deco Carnegie Medical Building (also known as the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine Building), which was demolished by the Cleveland Clinic in 2009.

They'll be built atop current parking lots, but what nobody at the Planning Commission meeting acknowledged is that those locations were formerly the site of two local landmarks, the Carnegie Medical Building and the Cleveland Play House complex.
Well, this is disappointing. These two planned parking garages would face a major thoroughfare but would make zero contributions to the public realm. The plans don't call for wrapping them with active uses, adding public art, or otherwise activating their surroundings. 🧵
Eee!

On October 3, 2025, at 11:16 am, WCSB as we knew it ceased to exist — but on March 1, 2026, at 11:16 am, XCSB starts a brand new journey, one built entirely on community.
March 1. 11:16 am. Only at xcsb.org.
We missed you. Come join us.
Enrique! I still think it's great that when Manny was asked who he'd pay $100,000 to spend the day with, he responded, "Enrique Wilson."
The Cleveland chapter of the @awesomefoundation.org provides $1,000 grants to help exciting local projects, and the deadline for the next round of awards is approaching. Get your application in by March 1.
It's budget season in Cleveland again, and Refund Cleveland has been updated for 2026. You can use it to understand the budget and to tell city leaders about your funding priorities. It's an @opencleveland.bsky.social project.
Wait, maybe not. The jagged boundary shows up on the Boundary and Annexation Survey map of the city.
www2.census.gov/geo/pvs/bas/...
I think Google might be confused about this. The jagged boundary doesn't appear on the boundary files posted by the city (data.clevelandohio.gov/datasets/fa8...) or the county (geospatial.gis.cuyahogacounty.gov/datasets/6be...).
The @archive.org now has a collection of playlists and program guides from the Cleveland College Radio Coalition, which consisted of WBWC, @xcsbcleveland.bsky.social, WJCU, WOBC, and WRUW. 📻

Just took a peek. There's a big range of prices, but it looks like you can pick up a working one for around $30.
This isn't new, either, but it still makes me laugh.
Some members of the dmoz community set up shop at Curlie.org. They're here, too, at @curlie-org.bsky.social .
