abstract accepted. looking forward to your presentation
There is, quite simply, no better or easier way to get your work seen by just about every team in the league. Do it!
Reminder: abstract submissions are open for Saberseminar 2026. We always aim for a mix of talks on a wide variety of subjects, from established professionals to hobbyists to students looking to get a foot in the door. Submit your abstract ASAP!

A couple of small side notes:
-Because Bonfire makes these items to order rather than in bulk, and handles the shipping, etc., merch purchased through the web store will be more expensive than buying in person.
-If there are any additional items you'd like (water bottle?) let us know.
Last but not least, this year we opened a web store to sell our merch online (instead of just at the conference). If you want one of our famous tie-dye shirts, a mug, a hat, in just about any size and color, please look at our store. www.bonfire.com/store/sabers...
We're also looking for presenters. We especially love to highlight student presentations and many of our student attendees have gone on to work in baseball. If you think you might be interested in giving a talk, our abstract submission portal is here: forms.gle/m7wQ98afGFvG...
We're excited to announce that Saberseminar 2026 will be held August 29-30 at the IIT campus in Chicago! We're excited to get back together for another weekend of fundraising and cutting-edge baseball research. For more information, visit our website. www.saberseminar.com
Summary: Peak BBCOR same for all 3 bats but shifted to inside for Torpedos. Simple shift for Torpedo-1 but wider sweet spot for Torpedo-2. See baseball.physics.illinois.edu/ppt/Nathan-T... for my @saberseminar.bsky.social talk. This is an on-going study with additional research in progress.
While the Young Center wasn't specifically involved in this case, standing up for kids in situations like the one described in this NYT article is exactly the type of work that they do. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/14/u...
Volunteers from the Young Center and Saberseminar pose for a photo op celebrating the donation
Saberseminar gave a donation of $10,000 to @theyoungcenter.bsky.social using the proceeds from the 2025 event! The Young Center does incredible work protecting the rights and interests of immigrant kids and we are so proud to support them. Thanks to all the attendees for making this possible!
Spent the last week "replicating" several sabersem presentations from the last sabersem. Was pretty fun! Going to highlight each one I did here. Shoutout to @srbrown70.bsky.social for the list of slides, very helpful.
if you want the repo, it's here github.com/nickwan/2025...

@enosarris.bsky.social and I discussed Zack Wheeler's outlook following a TOS diagnosis, Samuel Basallo's extension, Shane Bieber's new kick-change, and takeaways from Eno's trip to Saberseminar.....

Over the weekend I gave a presentation @Saberseminar about my research on torpedo bats, based on computational modeling. Experimental results are expected soon. Non-trivial result: Width of sweet spot is potentially greater for torpedo.

It was a good one. Our best yet by fundraising--we'll hit, or at least get close to, $75k total--and a ton of great talks. Happy to see everyone, happy to see a lot of students get interviews, and excited to continue growing next year.
Well. @saberseminar.bsky.social 2025 officially in the books. Thank you all. ❤️
Dan Eck showing a chart of estimated talent pool on a stage at the Saberseminar event
Dan Eck presenting his work on the Full House model that was recently featured in the New York Times!
Today I heard Jack Olszewski at @saberseminar.bsky.social describe his pantomime of Trunk Lean as "looking like a teapot" and I'm not sure I'll ever think of it any other way.
Zack Borowiak with a great visual of "indirect" framing runs--showing how batters tend to swing more outside the zone against good framers. This value isn't captured by traditional framing models.
Enormous thank you to @saberseminar.bsky.social for having @enosarris.bsky.social and myself to talk about imputing arm angles.

Alright, I've tidied up the repo and added my presentation. Thank you to everyone who was at @saberseminar.bsky.social yesterday! Was a pleasure to meet so many bright and interesting people.

Quin Yuter from Northwestern is talking about Predictability Score: a new way to measure pitch sequencing.
Round 2 for Driveline, this time Jack Lambert and Marek Ramillo, now on pitch mixes and recommending changes to them.
Another student talk, now from Zachary Levitan--on Computer Vision and measuring pitch control. Neat topic already
This was from Gabriel Applebaum's excellent talk about batters eyes at different MLB parks. Great research and follow-up in speaking with opthalmologists and experts in visual perception.
MLB parks are easier to hit in during the night, AAA parks are easier to hit in during the day. Hypothesis is that this stems from lighting quality.
Winding up, the presenters come up with a way to recommend changes to hitters' swings and determine how valuable those changes will be. Really neat quantitative approach to player development.
Interesting (and intuitive) inverse relationship between power and contact with swings. You can have one or the other, but notably, power is overall much more valuable than contact.
