When I first read this article under a month ago, I was admittedly lukewarm on the idea.

I increasingly consider D7 to be an outcome that #AusGov should actively pursue. Provided it is open to all countries with high democracy ratings.

Equality is the frame - it is solid and provides structure.

Without the structure of equality, equity dissipates. Without the context of equity, equality lacks substance.

This is obviously a hyper exaggerated example, but it highlights how present #sametreatment is in everyday interactions ➡️

Now to the currency. It could be $25.00 AUD or $25 USD. It could even be $25 equivalent in sticks, or starjumps (how is that even measured?!) ➡️

You may be able to pay or you may not. That does not mean you get your order for free (yet).

You are permitted to pay, now to the cost. The price could be $0.00, but the odds are it is going to be a great deal more. One minute ago it was $3.00, now it is $25.00 ➡️

If you were fortunate enough to remain, you may be able to order or you may not.

And what you may or may be able to order is entirely random every minute, provided you are still allowed to order or stay in the cafe.

You could enter the store or you could not enter the store.

In post 1.0 I mentioned how equality as the foundation upon which equity provides fairness to the situation through context.

That foundation is what gives us stability in everyday life through #sametreatment

Imagine for a moment you went into a café run by AI ➡️

Compulsory voting (which means compulsory turnout, as you are only required to tick your name off) is a great check against extreme positions.

‘Embedding AI in our day-to-day work lives is the big hope for a tech-driven productivity boost over the coming years.’

This is the main one. But even then, there is still a limit without compromising quality, ethics and/or the removal of people in the process.

As a DEETAIL value, democracy primarily refers to #Participation and #Voice.

Where all members of a group are involved in the decision making process, and provided opportunities to offer their voice and give voice to others in everyday decisions and long term planning.

Equality is not about making things identical.

If something is identical it is one thing, and can no longer be equal to something else.

Instead, equality is about sameness - similarities between two or more things in a given context.

Regional blocks are key to ensuring global stability. It is in Australia’s interest to strengthen our ties with ASEAN partners like Vietnam:

Equality is a great tool, but a blunt one because of its impartiality - something is either in its boundary, or it is not.

This is where its twin value, equity, comes in. Equity builds upon the solid foundation of equality to give fairness to the situation through context.
