An article from the National Parks Service: Smallpox,
Inoculation, and the Revolutionary War
Boston National Historical Park
During the 1700s, smallpox raged through the American colonies and the Continental Army. Smallpox impacted the Continental Army severely during the Revolutionary War, so much so that George Washington mandated inoculation for all Continental soldiers in 1777. Just fifty-six years earlier, in 1721, Bostonian doctors and clergy introduced the procedure to the American colonies.
Without the vision and determination of these early Bostonians in normalizing inoculation, Washington may not have made the decision to mandate inoculation for the Continental Army. Though it was a controversial action, many historians credit the medical mandate with the colonists' victory in the Revolutionary War and the creation of the United States of America.

David Cameron’s former guru Steve Hilton comes out for Brexit Steve Hilton, prime minister’s ex-confidant, urges Leave vote for UK to take back power from ‘arrogant, unaccountable, hubristic elites.’

My neighbor told me he was voting for Hilton for CA Governor. I asked him if he knew Hilton was from the UK, had just become a citizen 5 years ago, and was a proponent of that Brexit disaster.

Of course, he had no idea.

A new study shows that AI tutors are most effective when they do not just give the answers, but dynamically adjust the difficulty of practice problems. Keeping students engaged and appropriately challenged is the real future of youth tech.

Countries around the world are considering teen social media bans – why experts warn it’s a ‘lazy’ fix "I think the argument for a ban is an admission of failure that we cannot regulate companies, so we can only restrict children," one expert told CNBC.

Teen social media bans aren't a victory for child safety. They are an admission of policy failure.

When lawmakers ban kids, they are admitting they lack the will to regulate tech companies.

Gen Z's AI Adoption Steady, but Skepticism Climbs Gen Zers' use of AI is steady, but their excitement and hopefulness about it have declined over the past year, while anger has increased.

New data from the Walton Family Foundation/Gallup show a sharp shift in Gen Z sentiment toward AI: excitement dropped from 36% to 22% over the past year, while 31% now say it makes them angry.

Yet usage hasn’t changed, what Gallup calls “reticent acceptance.”
