Tonight I'm too busy screaming at the refs anyway.

It's fine and fun if we're way up. Not a nailbiter!
Hell yes to Folk Fest! And we biked to the Southeast Asian Water Festival last year (including our 5yo on our cargo bike), and it made an already amazing event even better.
Republicans: [unsavory tactics]
Media: Gosh, that’s some maneuvering.
Democrats: [punch back]
Media: We need to ask ourselves if this is the sign of a healthy democracy.
Measles flies back into Boston, but immediately gets into a private car and drives out of state

Nice! I recently got a new longsleeve tee from them too. :)
Page 1 of a legal Judgment document from the United States District Court, District of Oregon for Case No. 6:25-cv-02409-MTK, filed on 04/18/26. The plaintiffs are listed as "STATE OF OREGON, et al.," and the defendants are "ROBERT F. KENNEDY, JR., in his official capacity as Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, et al." The document is from United States District Judge Kasubhai. It outlines that final judgment is entered in favor of the Plaintiffs on Counts I, II, III, and IV. Item 3 states the Court holds unlawful, sets aside, and vacates the "Declaration of the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services RE: Safety, Effectiveness and Professional Standards of Care for Sex-Rejecting Procedures on Children and Adolescents".
Page 2 of a legal judgment document for Case 6:25-cv-02409-MTK, filed on April 18, 2026. The text outlines a court order declaring that defendants lack the authority to unilaterally establish standards of care that supersede professionally recognized standards for gender-affirming care in the Plaintiff States. It permanently enjoins defendants and their agents, including the HHS-OIG, from enforcing the "Kennedy Declaration" against providers in those states. The document is dated April 18, 2026, and is signed by United States District Judge Mustafa T. Kasubhai.
Huge news: the court has entered final judgement in Oregon v Kennedy (HHS trans youth care ban) and has vacated the Kennedy declaration and permanently enjoined its enforcement to target gender clinics.

NASA and Mamdani are proving that Americans are desperate to see their money spent in ways they feel good about.
This, however, is not the same thing as simply spending the money on things we would feel good about but never know happened. People need to be able to see it.
The Inflation Reduction Act was the single most aggressive investment in rural America since the New Deal.
Direct investment, high wage jobs, energy security, you name it. It was all there.
Too bad it happened 200 years ago and all the records of it are lost forever.
Actually got choked up remembering having a president like this.
There is so much market manipulation going on in this administration.
When our national parks are censored, we lose America’s largest classroom.
We’re suing to protect these invaluable sites from the Trump-Vance admin’s attempt to remove signs that tell visitors the truth about science, culture, and history. #OurParksOurHistory
Peace, but only during trading hours
AND, how they describe doing these things and how they talk about people who either choose to or must get around not by car, is EXTREMELY telling.
Every candidate for office should be asked if they take transit, bike, or walk. Doing these things fundamentally changes how a person sees their community & understands the benefits & challenges of their city/town. 1/2
I've been thinking a lot this week about how our mode of transit impacts our relationship with a community after reading this excellent piece by @ecarney.bsky.social
mamdani being a cheerful normal guy that people project absolute insane things on is one of the things that make him very relatable to me, personally
Mamdani hasn't had time to really think about all that space he now has, because he spends most of his time at City Hall and around New York City. He tries to keep a semblance of his old life by getting around the city on foot, by bike or train. "If you spend every single day driving around in a tinted window security detail, you will have a very specific view of the city," he said. "You actually meet other New Yorkers and you break out of the bubble that so many have come to expect of politics, where politicians only seem to be spending time with other politicians or the people who donated to make them politicians."
I'd say that this applies to anyone traveling in a car in any city. Being in a car versus walking, riding, or taking transit fundamentally changes how you view a place and your relationship to it. I wish more leaders set this kind of example.

When we create a state that is so focused on cruelty, we are always going to empower people like this. The cruelty is not a byproduct, it is an inevitable consequence.
When terms like "immigration enforcement" are used to describe ICE's operations it obscures two things: The fact that this administration is doing ethnic cleansing and, as this article makes clear, that the goal is to make sure there are no safe spaces anywhere for immigrants.
DoorDash's head of public affairs said "no one is claiming it was a real delivery." I found a few people who were claiming that: Reuters, ABC, CBS, the AP, Fox, Newsmax, The Hill, the New York Post, and CSPAN, for starters. www.readtpa.com/p/a-real-del...
Wow
The person is safe so now I can share that there was someone in court today being accompanied for a hearing about a restraining order. So in addition to surviving domestic violence, this person has to deal with the added fear of worrying about being abducted while trying to get protection.
NEW: Republicans (and Fetterman) just BLOCKED a war powers resolution in the Senate. Rand Paul voted with all Democrats. Senate Republicans (and Fetterman) are now on record in support of this illegal war.
this is a microcosm of the world as conservatives want it, where “merit” means an unrestricted good ol’ boys club
ICE had 6 fucking vehicles at my local courthouse in Massachusetts this morning. They're here and they're terrorizing people. Just because the tactics have changed doesn't mean their impact on our communities has changed.
The Massachusetts Senate needs to pass the PROTECT Act ASAP.
They already did, thankfully. Poor guys, oof.
It’s hard not to see Vance’s criticism of the Pope’s theological bona fides as just silly hubris.
But I also see it as a stress test of sorts — can they manipulate sentiment against a pontiff. Not for Trump’s interests. More likely for Thiel’s.
Rather unfortunate timing that our yard waste pickup was missed yesterday. Sorry, guys, I could barely lift them BEFORE they were completely soaked. 🤣🤪
"Someone tried to strangle Sneako", "Clavicular just had a drug overdose", I refuse to believe that understanding any of these headlines is better for me than chain-smoking
