sleator is so good. he's also quite rigorous on science when he wants to be. (what comes to mind is _the boy who reversed himself_ has all the food tasting different when your body is reversed because of chirality issues.)

Dark Matter May Be Made of Black Holes From Another Universe A model of the cyclic universe suggests that dark matter could be a population of black holes predating the Big Bang.

www.wired.com/story/dark-m...

The late William Sleator's SINGULARITY doesn't go to the dark matter place as such but... Unusually rigorous development of a black hole/general relativity hypothetical premise for a sci-fi novel, let alone one for *kids*. Possibly also his most bravura feat of prose.

seattle has some very good food but it's not in any of the places where people say it is.

JC Rice Noodle is primarily a rice noodle factory that supplies fresh noodles to every asian restaurant within driving distance, but they also have a side business in making the best chow fun in North America.

if you are in the Portland area, go to JC Rice Noodle and order the beef chow fun (or vegetarian if you don't eat beef.) fresh soy milk optional but good. one order is enough for 2-3 adults.

it's take-out only so you'll have to bring a utensil and eat it in a small park nearby. thank me later.

Let's Go to the Zoo - Reactor Equipped with two sandwiches, a couple sets out to the zoo to see the one totally sane human being.

Good afternoon. "Let's Go to the Zoo" is a short story of about 1700 words. It is about wanting to kill yourself, and not wanting to want to kill yourself. I hope you enjoy it.

"don't have a favorite" also spans both people who don't care about dinosaurs very much and people who care way too much about dinosaurs and it's like asking them to pick their favorite child.
