i think some level of worry is appropriate in this situation, but I believe we are far from "stopping online experiments altogether".
With all due respect to the authors (the study raises a “potential” concern), but its framing overstates that concern imo. A few things worth flagging before everyone panics 1/

Two AI generated images showing 1) a boy walking through a disorderly neighbourhood with graffiti and trash and 2) a boy walking through a very similar but cleaned up neighbourhood without trash ad graffiti.
Can AI-generated images work as visual vignettes in survey experiments? I argue yes - and discuss how . in my new @sscratsage.bsky.social paper: doi.org/10.1177/0894...
So proud and happy of our #MESS2025 — growing in size, diversity, quality, and good vibes every year!

Every academic career is built on rejection, but we don’t show it.
CVs list publications, grants & awards, not rejected manuscripts, unfunded proposals, or failures.
But those invisible rejections shape us more than our successes ever do.

I have never felt as wanted as I did this past August, when I received 14 review requests.
Radical-right parties are often linked to the “left-behind”. But supporting them when stigma is strong is costly. So who is willing to pay that cost early on, before it’s normalized?
In my new WP, I argue that breaking political norms is socially stratified. 🧵👇

I think we need a more nuanced analysis of the link between 2nd-order beliefs and climate action. It’s often assumed that underestimating support for policies leads to inaction, but our findings suggest it can also be a volunteer’s dilemma.
