An illegal, immoral war of choice - I said so in Parliament.
Iran's enrichment deal was close, yet Israel and the US bombed Iran. Bombing of South Lebanon and Beirut continues, displacing millions and wrecking negotiations.
This cannot go on. I asked the Prime Minister to act.

Great to meet the team at Channel 4 last week! Hearing about opportunities coming to Bolton South & Walkden was brilliant, including Aaliah from Bolton, now thriving in their Public Affairs team after starting as an apprentice. More news for local schools & colleges soon! 🎬
Great news: the Government is consulting on firework noise limits. I introduced my Fireworks (Noise Control) Bill in December for exactly this reason, to protect veterans, children with sensory needs, pets and communities. We need action, not just consultation.

And thats not all. The two-child limit has been scrapped. Millions of pensioners are better off.
Reform, the Conservatives and the Greens voted against every bit of it.
When someone asks what Labour are doing, tell them - we are getting on with making lives better
After 14 years of stagnating pay and insecure work, Labour is turning the page.
The Employment Rights Act is now law: guaranteed hours, day one sick pay, stronger protections against fire and rehire, and more power for trade unions.
Wishing everyone in Bolton South and Walkden (and beyond!) a very happy Easter Sunday
School libraries are for opening minds, not closing them. I've written to the DfE demanding answers about how this happened and what the Department will do to protect young people's access to books.

Nearly 200 books removed from a school library in my constituency, including We Should All Be Feminists and Pageboy. One headteacher's personal preference became institutional censorship. A qualified librarian did her job and was forced out.
Follow this account for updates from inside the committee room, including the amendments I table and how the discussions develop. I want this process to be transparent and accessible so that everyone can see how these decisions are made. Justice works best when people are informed and engaged.
The committee's next sitting is on 14th April. I'm currently reviewing submitted evidence and meeting with groups like the Bar Council and victims' charities before deciding on the next steps in the committee
The committee works in 3 stages: evidence sessions with experts and campaigners, line-by-line scrutiny of every clause, and amendment votes, with each recorded permanently as public record.
A Public Bill Committee is a small group of MPs chosen to go through a bill line by line : questioning, challenging, and tabling amendments. Every word can be tested. Every rejection goes on the public record.
I have been appointed to the Public Bill Committee examining the Courts and Tribunals Bill, which includes proposals that would change how jury trials operate for a range of criminal offences. I want to explain what this means and how I will be approaching the work ahead.
From April, the Government is putting more money in your pocket to help with the cost of living. Real practical changes, not slogans and gimmicks. Around £150 off energy costs, 4% pay rise for millions of workers and more free childcare so parents aren't punished for going back into work.
Brilliant news! Salford is 5th in England for social mobility, Greater Manchester 6th. HEPI's Social Mobility Index measures access, continuation and graduate outcomes for students from most deprived backgrounds, beyond beyond grades

Proud to be a member of the new APPG on Dietary Health, which held its inaugural meeting last week.
Poor diet drives obesity, diabetes and heart disease - and it hits deprived communities hardest. This cross-party group will push for real, population-level change. Looking forward to the work ahead.
Proud to sign this letter with Navendu Mishra and colleagues.
IVF is often the only chance someone has to start a family. Reducing it to one NHS cycle risks a system where your ability to pay determines your chances. I'll keep working to ensure equal access for everyone in Greater Manchester.
Eid Mubarak to everyone across Bolton South and Walkden and beyond who is celebrating!
Thank you Keir Starmer for calling out the disgusting comments made by a member of the Tory front bench, and the lack of condemnation from the Leader of the opposition.
We are a diverse nation, whether that is race, opinion or religious belief. I'm glad the PM called out the hypocrisy of the Tories
Closing Al-Aqsa during Ramadan is unacceptable.
I raised in Parliament the decision to shut one of Islam’s holiest sites in occupied East Jerusalem and called on the Government to press Israel to restore access and respect international law and freedom of worship.
Bolton and Salford are home to proud Irish communities, and today I want to wish everyone with Irish heritage in Bolton South and Walkden, as well as the 70 million people of Irish descent around the world, a very happy St Patrick's Day ☘️ 🇮🇪
As the US steps back from supporting democracy in the world, the UK must step forward. Democratic resilience isn't idealism, it's hardheaded security and prosperity policy. We cannot afford to leave that space to others.
I abstained on the Courts and Tribunals Bill yesterday. Not because I want the backlog to continue, but because restricting jury trials won't fix it, and removing the right of appeal will hit the poorest defendants hardest. There's good in this Bill. I want to see it improved, not defeated.
I spoke discussed my concerns regarding the government's plans to restrict trial by jury with @itvnews.bsky.social
As I said in the clip, what we call 'minor offences', for most people would have a major impact on their lives, and we cannot remove the right to be tried by a jury of our peers.
You can hear my full interview at www.thetimes.com/radio/show/2... starting at 2 hours, 26 mins, 45 seconds"
I spoke with @timesradio about my concerns with the government's plans around changes to Jury Trials. I'm clear, we need to look at other options to increase court sitting days, reduce delays in trials and free up time for judges, rather than restricting the right to trial by jury.
80 years since the Burnden Park disaster. 33 Bolton fans who never came home. I couldn't be at today's memorial, but I've shared the words I would have spoken.
"Remembrance is an act of love."

In Parliament, I highlighted the vital role of Commonwealth troops in the World Wars. Millions, including many Muslims, fought with Britain. Nearly 1.5 million Muslims died. In today's climate, where Muslims face demonization, remembering this history is crucial.
I'm proud to support #WorldObesityDay. In England, nearly 1 in 3 adults live with obesity, and 64.5% are overweight or obese, among the highest in Western Europe. Obesity profoundly impacts individuals, families, and the NHS. It's time to treat it with the seriousness it deserves.
