It’s Easter and the US President chose to share this, an unhinged and expletive ridden rant threatening war crimes against the Iranian people. Australians want no part in this and they expect our government to clearly oppose it and organise to prevent it.
Cracking @thesaturdaypaper.com.au editorial this week on what the Albanese Government’s Murphy gambling review response says about the PM.

This is terribly sad. Australia does amazing astronomy and their ESO involvement was a very good thing for all I think (as a relatively remote person to it)

The Australien Government has made an ad about Alcoa, and it's surprsingly honest and informative.
Opinion | Grace Tame writes on the nuances of Anthony Albanese's choice of language in describing her as "difficult", the media storm following her pro-Palestine chant, and which social causes do and don’t ignite public support.

I was born in an Iranian prison. My parents were held in their jails. My uncles lie in their mass graves. Nothing you can tell me about the crimes of the Iranian regime that I haven't lived in blood and bone. That doesn't mean I want my people bombed, maimed, killed, their homes in ruins. If your vision of liberation comes only through the destruction of innocent lives, then it's not freedom you're after. Sahar Delijani, Iranian author
I am pro Iranian people. I stand with them against their own government’s repression AND against the imperial violence in the form of bombs dropped from the sky from Israel & the US who have already killed hundreds.
I support neither imperialism or dictatorship.

It’s 978 days since Peta Murphy called for a ban on betting ads. What happened to Labor’s pledge to respect parliament?

Such a good piece here by my colleague Louise
"Proponents argue CCS requires public funding to scale. But the public is already underwriting the sector through the liability framework embedded in federal law"
Sure CCS sucks money from taxpayers, but at least it also burdens taxpayers with risk
“With this scaling up of carbon dumping ambition, the fossil fuel industry conversation has shifted in tone,” writes Louise Morris, Advocate at The Australia Institute.

The last time we had catastrophic fires was when this bin fire of a Government was in power who only cared about photo ops & secret Hawaii holidays.
Now they have dropped the climate target of net zero! FMD! #auspol

Anyone having trouble with Australia's community battery plan?
To me a community battery is literally a battery in my community that I feed all my excess solar in for people in my community to access for a massive discount. I don't get why they can't build batteries like this, especially in small towns like mine.
These batteries are run by private companies, even though getting govt grants, rather than govt/community agencies. Can only be for private profit. Where, exactly, is the benefit to the community/household?
