That's a wrap. 30 years in the classroom & admin & time for retirement. I always think best when I drive so I toured all 8 schools of my career. Great memories of staff, students and families but I'm also excited for the next chapter. #WhatsNext

5 as a classroom teacher, 9 as a Vice Principal, and 16 as a Principal. Working with kids, families and staff has been an honour. I'll miss many things but the laughter and learning I've received from students will be missed the most.

1/3 So for those who don't already know, this is my last school year and I will be retiring at the end of June. Pics from 1st year and last (Yes we used chalkboards when I started teaching). 30 years of teaching has been exciting, exhausting, fulfilling, fun, and frustrating, but never, never boring

Lots of learning this week at #HughCairnsVC ahead of #RedDressDay and today our Gr. 8's showed off the learning they did by inviting senior classes and community members to share their learning in the gym. #NoMoreStolenSisters

Good urban planning creates great spaces for everyone and anyone.

A great public park will have lively activity year round, but will become particularly lively when it gets a little warmer.

So if anyone is wondering if Canada will ever become the 51st state, please watch my mother, who is in her 80's, plant a Canadian flag, attached to a hockey stick, in the snowbank in her front yard in honour of Flag Day on Saturday. #IAmCanadian

What an amazing day we had yesterday. All of our #HughCairnsVC students participated in an Indigenous Day Of Learning. They learned about animals, land use, Metis beading, ribbon skirt making, drumming, storytelling, and traditional games.

Opinion | America’s homeless population is exploding. But there’s a solution. The story about how homelessness among military veterans fell can tell us a lot about what we need to do in order to end the larger crisis.

Homelessness in the United States is getting worse. But homelessness among military veterans has been getting better. The difference is that with the latter, a HOUSING FIRST approach is used. And like everywhere else that it’s used, it’s working. And it saves money.

So why isn’t it used everywhere?
