This morning I found a kimchi jar in the back of my cupboard had exploded… I’ve decided to focus on that problem rather than the global economic disaster, it seems more at the level I can worry about.

I make a lot of TOC images and I’m always amused (ironically) but how many journals have a specific no humour or joke policy. Nice to know someone is keeping enjoyment of science in check ;)

I use props (taking a drink or writing in my notes) to force a slight pause before I answer which gives me time to think about questions carefully. It’s not perfect but it slows me down which I find helps

I don’t talk politics very much on social media but yikes, yesterday really was the (re)launch of “we want to hurt people” politics in the US :(

If you don’t write all your slides 2 hours before you’re going to present them are you really an academic?

(A: Yes you are, you’re just one with better planning than me)

I resolved it by moving all my python projects to one version of python and sticking ;)
