I didn't actually realize that, makes sense. As someone with super cooked reaction time I appreciate the slowdown, though assuming whether you get a CH or not is also a skill you can have if your reactions are bad. This genre is just so cool, there's so much to discuss and think about

I'm a strivehead with some time in Rev2, so to me the new combos that are enabled by the slowdown are great since they make you move out of autopilot. Maybe it's my teacher brain that makes me find it great for beginners 😭
My example would be the counter hit slowdown in Strive, which I actually think is a beautiful unification of the spectacle (slowdown and zoom in on what will be big damage) and gameplay (slowdown allowing you to confirm or get combos that would otherwise be impossible)
One thing I'm curious about is how you (if you're even allowed to talk about this) tackled this balance between "How much do we make this for spectators/players" when you were working on 2XKO. Especially since so much of modern FGs is (at least visually) made for spectacle as well as play
