Not to diminish people's concerns about AI, but I think academics should understand how to use Claude Code. Even if you decide not to use it yourself, your peers will likely try it, and PhD students already are using it.
This is an excellent starting point for that journey.

The art to what Mamdani does is that he doesn't assume you know anything of the story he's telling. But he also doesn't assume you don't know. He tells it in a way that is a compelling retelling to those that know and a compelling first telling to those that don't.

I personally do it because I’m always curious about who is in people’s network, and it gives a sense of the intellectual context in which the research was produced, beyond what appears in the literature review

Mamdani rescinded every executive order issued by Eric Adams after Adams's indictment, but still the "New York Times" is focusing exclusively on two of those orders that had to do with Israel.
