A long time ago and far away: Our friends at Roddenberry Productions recently dredged up some notes that I sent to Gene's office way back in 1985, before ST4. I started with a question, "Why are the computer monitors round on the movie Enterprise bridge?" I noted that present-day computer screens use rectangular screens to show rectangular-formatted graphics. I wondered what kind of graphics would be used on round screens. These sketches were my answer. You can also see stylistic beginnings to what later became LCARS on ST:TNG. BTW, I was delighted to learn that GR liked my sketches enough to keep them in his files, so they could be unearthed all these years later.

These were apparently from notes sent from the Okudas to Gene Roddenbury, as per Facebook:
