A broken branch is colonized by dozens of climbing false turkey tail fronds. Their salmon shelves are cupped like pringles toward the sky. All photos by me
Here are some nice mushrooms

Our global study on the state of trust in scientists is now out in Nature Human Behaviour! 🥳
With a team of 241 researchers, we surveyed 71,922 people in 68 countries, providing the largest dataset on trust in scientists post-pandemic 👇🧵https://www.nature.com/articles/s41562-024-02090-5
Even more reason to be scared of teenagers😂
This video has brought me such joy. I can’t stop singing the song lol. It feels like a forehead kiss 🥹
Two kittens sitting on black chairs underneath a white table. There's a tuxedo kitty in the back (black with white chest, socks, and tail tip), and a gray kitty in the front. THEY ARE SO CUTE.
Pineapple green cheek conure (green wings, red and yellow belly, red tail) sitting on a bird cage. In the background is a picture of a cat wearing hipster glasses and holding a computer mouse in its mouth.
Outside of work, I like to:
- Hike (why else am I in Colorado?)
- Drink copious amounts of tea🍵
- Read #romantasy (better than reality TV imo)
- Make biscuits with my hypoallergenic cats🐈⬛🐈⬛
- Appease my perpetually angry pet parrot🦜
- Sew
- Belly dance💃
After defending in July 2022, I moved to #Colorado for more sun and mountains in my life🌄
I recovered for several months and then job searched for ~half a year before becoming a #Covid19 data analyst with the CO Dept of Public Health and Environment.
I started #PMF in Nov 2023, and now here I am!
Edna wearing a giant red "lobster" suit on a ship on Muskegon Lake as safety training for a sampling cruise on Lake Michigan.
Cartoon by Dr. Jaye Gardiner (@jayeperview.bsky.social, @jkxcomics.bsky.social). Edna and Bucky wearing lab coats and staring at brightly colored flasks. In the background is the UW-Madison "W" logo and the university's well loved terrace chairs.
I got my BS in #microbiology and Spanish from the University of Michigan and studied freshwater microbes.
Then I went to the University of Wisconsin-Madison where I got a Microbiology PhD with @uwmadisonmdtp.bsky.social and a PhD minor in #SciComm with @uw-lsc.bsky.social.

Comic by Dr. Jaye Gardiner (@jayeperview.bsky.social, @jkxcomics.bsky.social). Cartoon of Edna wearing red glasses and a fanny pack, holding a squirrel, and there's a zoom into the squirrel that shows microbes
As part of the #PMF program, I'm doing a 6 month rotation outside of my home office. I'm helping to enhancing resilience of the health, food, and agriculture sectors with the U.S. Dept of Homeland Security, Office of Health Security💪

I'm a data scientist who looks for fraud, waste, and abuse of taxpayer dollars because we all deserve the most bang for our buck🤑
That's why I'm based in the U.S. Dept of Commerce, Office of Inspector General where I apply my #bioinformatics and #DataScience skills to non-biological datasets.

Hi everyone!👋
My new year's resolution was to join the new #ScienceTwitter, so let me introduce myself:
I'm Edna, a Presidential Management Fellow #PMF, data scientist, PhD microbiologist, and science communicator.
I post about #SciComm, #SciPol, #PhDadvice, #DataScience, and #microbiology.
