If Lab Rat is on the want to play list, definitely put it on the start list. The writing is really fantastic!

BTW if you want to get an HDMI adapter for them, my friend who keeps up with this sort of thing recommended this model: insurrectionindustries.com/product/carb...

(I didn't mention a specific model earlier since the HDMy CUBE adapter I have is no longer being made.)

Also I'd be wary of the Wavebird controllers. (The first-party wireless controllers Nintendo made.) Maybe I'm just unlucky, but none of my three work consistently anymore. I think they struggle in the presence of modern wireless devices.

I'm sure CRTs are in no short supply in your home, but never know what they might want in the future. I believe there's also third-party component adapters based on the same tech.

Be wary of any adapters claiming SNES/N64 compatibility though, those use are just converting the composite signal.

Not a game suggestion, but try to get a DOL-001 if you can. Unlike the DOL-101 revision it has a digital AV output.

Originally used for the component output cable (which is now unobtanium)-there are inexpensive third-party HDMI adapters for it that work much nicer than adapting the composite signal

Photo of the same black lab German shepherd mix curled up behind a young waist-height Norfolk pine. (A Norfolk pine is kind-of like a chaotic Christmas tree.) The pine has several sticky traps meant for fungus gnats staked around its base.

Ah, please do!

Puppy photos run a strong risk of causing me to go find Nova a little sister but it’s a risk I’m willing to take

(Bonus Nova pic, taken moments before disaster)

Photo of a black lab German shepherd mix delightfully cuddling with a giant dog toy shaped like the hit 1950’s puppet television star: Lamb Chop! Yes they made these in 2024. Yes they are definitely meant to be dog toys (they squeak and are sold as such.) No they aren’t rebooting the franchise or anything, I’m baffled why these dog toys exist too. I tried looking into it and couldn’t find anything.

Haha, I feel like you were one of the first people to ditch the bird site in the first place.

Also here’s a Nova for good luck. Looking forward to seeing your art on here!

Funny Generals Source code comments

This compilation of funny comments from yesterday's C&C: Generals source release is a good reminder that I need to be more casual in my code comments for the sake of future generations

Congrats! Great to see this book get updated.

You should try to get the website updated if you can, I was recommending a friend buy the book once the 2nd edition was released--we almost didn't notice it already had been.

A screenshot of a list of words. I feel like it'd be annoying to screenreaders if I actually listed out all 103 of them so here's a selection of them: Cell, cheep, chi, chilli, chip, chippie, cipzel, cliche, clip, eel, epic, heel, heh, hell, help, hi, hip, hippie, ice, icicle, ill, leech, lichee, lie, lip, pee, peel, peep, phi, phiz, pi, piece, pill, pizzelle, pile, zee, zilch, zip, zizzle.

Can't spell Chipzel without EPIC or any of these other 102 words according to the random Scrabble word list I found

A frame of Slime Rancher A look into what makes those pixels so gosh darn wiggly!

Hi. Hello! How are you? I'm David, I like graphics & low-level programming. Will I post about those things here on this shiny new butterfly website? Maybe! I'm bad at social media

In the meantime, maybe check out the graphics study I did on Slime Rancher? pixelalchemy.dev/posts/a-fram...
