The WTO Ministerial Council failed to reach conclusions. No great surprise given the volume of global mistrust exacerbated by President Trump. In particular the moratorium on duties on digital downloads has expired, countries will now make retaliatory threats on this against the US.
Last night's much delayed conclusion to the Yaoundé Ministerial Conference. Deadlock over how long to extend the moratorium on collecting duties on digital trade (which lapses) and work programmes on WTO reform and agriculture mean only a few décisions were taken. Work continues in Geneva.

Still to watch:
• Agricultural limits remain (beef, lamb, sugar quotas)
• Changes to product naming (e.g. “prosecco”)
• Final ratification still required
Key highlights:
• Tariffs eliminated on ~98% of goods
• Expanded access for services & investment
• Stronger cooperation on critical minerals & supply chains
The European Union and Australia have reached a historic agreement in principle on a Free Trade Agreement after years of negotiation.
The European Commission clinched a trade deal with Canberra on Tuesday, liberalising flows of goods while keeping quotas on sensitive EU farm products and leaving Australia’s luxury car tax largely intact. #EuropeNews
