If you are serious about supporting your neighbors and the vulnerable members of your community, this absolutely and by definition means intentionally acknowledging and addressing some basic inclinations, like the one that says to abandon people who aren't always able to be there when you want them.

So when it comes to "grow community locally" stuff, here's something non-Disabled folks especially have to figure out how to counter.

There is a long-standing pattern where chronically ill people, even those who previously had extensive support networks and community, are abandoned and isolated.
