A bright little pond-edge detail from Kampura 🌿💧
This flowering plant is a canna, growing happily beside one of our retention ponds. It’s a good reminder that water infrastructure can also become habitat, beauty, and biodiversity.

Behind every lot of Kampura cacao is a hardworking Qʼeqchiʼ Maya team whose skill and care make it possible. 🤎
From harvest to drying, their daily work shapes the quality of every award-winning bean. We are forever grateful 🙌

(2 of 2) At Kampura, our cacao is 100% organic, so this specific shock does not hit our cacao operation the same way. Still, our hearts are with the farmers and consumers facing higher costs.

(1 of 2) Fertilizer prices are rising as disruption around the Strait of Hormuz hits global ag inputs. Reuters reports about one-third of global seaborne fertilizer trade moves through that route.

At Kampura, fine-flavor (and organic) cacao grows inside a larger agroforestry system. The goals: help the land recover, produce nourishing goods, and create good jobs while the forest returns.

Today the cacao forest is full of yellow. 🌼
This is Cortez—Handroanthus ochraceus—a native tree we plant among cacao and cardamom at Kampura. It softens the sun, feeds pollinators, and returns organic matter to the soil as its leaves fall.

In traditional Mayan wisdom, cacao has a feminine energy. Many even use the female pronouns to refer to her. To our agroforestry work, women are essential.
We couldn’t produce the cacao you know and love without them!

We’re honored to share some big news…
Kampura has been awarded a Bronze prize at the 2025 Cacao of Excellence Awards!

A sunrise over a distant mountain range in Guatemala
Every day we continue to be in awe at the immense beauty here on our forest-farm. Love sharing with you.
Wishing everyone a safe, healthy weekend coming up.
How do you express gratitude for the work you do?

A tiny cacao flower close up
Behold the cacao flower; the size of a fingernail. For about a day it can be pollinated—mostly by tiny midges living in the cool, humid leaf litter of our forest floor. Healthy soil = more midges = more cacao pods.

Morning mist, rainbows after storms, last light over the canopy 🌿
These are everyday views from our team at Kampura in Caqui Creek—a reminder that every cup of cacao starts in a living forest, not a factory.

Cardamom, forest-style.
From nursery trays to full plants, our certified organic cardamom grows as part of a stacked agroforestry system at Kampura. One hillside, many layers of life and livelihoods.

Cardamom under natural rubber 🌿
Instead of a single crop, this part of Kampura stacks canopy, understory, and ground cover—more biodiversity, more resilience, more ways for our community to thrive.

On MLK Day, we’re grateful for the people who came before us in the struggle for civil and human rights—and we recommit to doing our part, however small, to make supply chains more just from the forest floor upward.

The “office” at Kampura: steep slopes, damp leaves, and a bucket full of fresh cacao beans 🍃🤎
Our forest-farm is beautiful, but it’s also real work—long days in heat and rain, walking between trees so chocolate can start here, on the forest floor.

Kampura update: our co-founder & CEO Rodrigo Sevilla was quoted in Forbes Middle East on why chocolate prices remain high despite easing cocoa futures—touching on climate risk, volatility, and demand destruction.

Starting 2026 by reaffirming our core values at Kampura: VIDA — Value for Nature, Innovation with Purpose, Community Development, and Authenticity at origin. Healthy forests, strong communities, honest cacao. 🌱🤎

A hive of wasps beneath cardamom leaves
Not all farm helpers have fur or feathers 🐝🌿
Polybia occidentalis wasps nesting in our cardamom and rubber trees help control other insects—one more reason Kampura stays pesticide-free and biodiversity-rich.

Thank you to our team, our neighbors in Guatemala, and to you for believing that great cacao can also mean healthier ecosystems and stronger communities.
Here’s to another year of regeneration, shared prosperity, and many moments shared together with cacao in 2026. 🤎

Happy 2026 from the Kampura forest 🌱✨
As we close 2025, we’re grateful for another year of caring for this land—rebuilding soil, protecting Caqui Creek, and growing cacao and cardamom in a living, biodiverse forest.

From bare hillsides to a living canopy.
This is what patience, reforestation, and love for the land look like over time: cacao and cardamom growing under rosewood, rubber, mahogany, and native trees…soil shaded, water protected, wildlife returning.
Every new layer of leaves means richer soil.

A announcement for our Kampura Christmas Gathering
We don't think of Kampura as simply a workplace. It’s a community where we support one another and share the benefits of everyone’s hard work.
Thank you to our entire team for everything you do, on the farm and beyond. ❤️

This weekend we celebrated our Kampura Family Christmas Gathering at the farm 🎄✨
All of our team members and their families came together for gifts, music, dancing, bubbles, and a lot of laughter.

A box turtle
This box turtle lives along Caqui Creek, the freshwater stream that runs through our forest-farm. Because we grow cacao, cardamom, and other crops organically and protect forest cover around the water, animals like this have a safe place to feed, hide, and thrive.
