Clean the barrel of the RCA connector on the VCR, looks like they are dusty or oxidized. Rough them up with some Brillo pad or scotch brite. You can try the other set of RCA’s just to the left of where you plugged in. Those should be a parallel connection inside the VCR. Maybe try a new cable too?
