Thankyou Aaron, it’s nice to look back at the achievements 👏

Earlier this month ~200 scientists gathered to #BringScienceToPolitics.
Hear why @chrisgpackham.bsky.social joined us.
Part of the "increasing number of scientists realising that the job isn't done once the paper is published"? Follow us and help push for the evidence-informed policy we all need.
I’m going to Parliament with 130+ other scientists this Tuesday to talk to our MPs about putting science back into decision making.
I’ll be talking to mine about the Planning and Infrastructure Bill, the Climate and Nature Bill, and our 30x30 commitments.
Join over 100 scientists going to Parliament in London to speak directly with MPs to remind them of the science and urgency of the climate emergency, alongside @chrisgpackham.bsky.social.

Yesterday, @chrisgpackham.bsky.social with us and Plant-Based Health Professionals UK staged a protest outside the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs #DEFRA, objecting to the make-up of a new government body intended to oversee development of its landmark food strategy.

💥 BREAKING 💥
A thousand people have come to London today to sit on the Strand outside the Royal Courts of Justice.
This is to signal to the justice system against imprisoning peaceful protesters who are acting to defend planetary and public health.

👏 A HUGE thank you to all the MPs who have pledged to vote to progress the Climate and Nature Bill at its pivotal Second Reading this Friday, 24 January.

I can just imagine what a non news story it would be for the media too
I really feel that the whole “we can’t say we are over 1.5°c until it’s been 10yrs, 20yrs” thing is so illustrative of that.
As a scientist I totally get it, but as a climate campaigner waiting ten years to say it with 100% confidence feels pointless.
It’s no longer acceptable for scientists to sit on the fence
Last week I concluded my review of the year by writing “I hope 2025 is the year people worldwide wake up to the multiple threats we are facing and start to act accordingly.” Maybe my wish for the year is beginning to be fulfilled. This…
The annoying thing is she’s really good on flooding ( we are coastal and have had two major flood events in the last couple of years) but she doesn’t yet see the link between flooding and climate change, or land/nature use
"Current #climate policies risk catastrophic societal and economic impacts"
The Institute & Faculty of Actuaries and climate scientists from @exeter.ac.uk published a vital new report today.
Here's a thread with some key takeaways 🧵
I will send one last email but I just get the same prepared answers from mine, she’s a new Labour MP and I can understand her being hesitant but at 28 she’s going to have to live with this for a long time.
"Contrary to common beliefs, we find that misinformation isn’t universal or a general condition of our media ecosystem.
Instead, it's specifically associated with radical-right populist parties that spread misinformation as a political strategy."
🙏 UK faith leaders delivered Keir Starmer an urgent letter at 10 Downing Street today.
📣 “We ask you to support the passage of the Climate and Nature Bill through Parliament—and back the #CANBill at its pivotal Second Reading on 24 January.”

Yet he still denies we are in a climate crisis 🤷♀️
1/ On 24th January the Climate and Nature Bill will be read in Parliament but – outrageously – the Labour party may not allow its MPs a free vote
It’s no exaggeration to say the fate of the world depends on urgent political action, so this is no time to be playing party politics
🧵
They also suddenly develop a concern for droning water voles 🤷♀️
Me too, I’d always voted green locally and labour nationally but my whole family all voted green at both last year
Yep, they don’t seem to see that failing more slowly is still failing
My MP is a new Labour MP, I’ve been trying to get her to back the CAN Bill since before she was elected. It’s a great Bill and oven ready so I don’t understand why some Labour MPs are not representing their constituents over it.
Societies advance when guided by science and fall back under the spell of self-serving populists.
Nearly 1,200 scientists say it’s vital that the UK passes the Climate & Nature Bill for ambitious, legally-binding action.
Has your MP committed yet to vote on Friday 24th Jan?
My first comment piece in @theguardian.com is on a topic very close to my heart; the threat that the #ClimateCrisis poses to my local community in South Wales.
Here's a thread with a few extra thoughts from me 🧵
I wondered if I could with the ornamental ones?
The Climate and Nature Bill is dream legislation and we - you and I - have the chance to help make it UK law
But what’s so great about it, don’t we have legislation for climate and the environment already? Well...
Here are my Top 10 favourite things about the #CANBill
I have Geisha Girl too, which is equally gorgeous!

1/ Five years ago, climate activism by scientists was new, strange, and frowned upon
Today, according to new data, it has become *the norm*
