We're getting down to the wire.
Congress must close the data broker loophole and reform FISA Section 702.
We need members to do the right thing and protect your private data. Tell them to act:

The White House sent a memo to staff warning against insider trading, and referenced Polymarket & Kalshi.
Stern emails aren't enough.
Congress needs to pass legislation to stop gov't officials from profiting off inside info on prediction markets, and POTUS must sign it.
Prediction markets currently operate in a legal gray area.
One thing we do know is that they present an opportunity for government officials to profit off of inside information.
Congress needs to act to make sure this kind of corruption can't happen.
.@slate.com tealked to POGO's David Janovsky all about the DOJ's argument against the Presidential Records Act-- and what it gets wrong. Check it out:
We agree with @jayapal.house.gov: Congress needs to close the data broker loophole.
This shouldn't be a partisan issue. It's about protecting your constitutional rights.
The data broker loophole allows law enforcement to acquire massive amounts of info that would normally require a warrant.
That makes mass surveillance easy.
Congress needs to take action to protect your constitutional rights.

Closing the data broker loophole is all about protecting your constitutional rights.
Thank you to Rep Warren Davidson for speaking out about the
importance of passing Section 702 reforms:
We've joined together w/@commoncause.org to send Congress a simple message: sitting presidents shouldn't be able to profit off taxpayer money. The president filing suit against the IRS presents a clear conflict of interest, & it's time for Congress to step in:
The Wall Street Journal reported yesterday that the White House plans to keep DHS's $70 million jet— the very same jet whose connections to a Kristi Noem campaign donor we reported on last month. ⬇️
Donald Trump Jr. is not only an advisor w/Polymarket & Kalshi-- he runs Truth Social, which is launching its own prediction market.
He can profit off his ties to the White House. That's textbook corruption. Congress must stop gov't officials from profiting off of these markets.
The White House keeps finding new ways to hurt inspectors general-- now, proposing cuts to the budget for the DHS IG.
We've criticized the DHS IG in the past, but this office is in the midst of serious investigations. Cutting their budget is an attack on accountability.
Did you know that the government is circumventing your constitutional rights by using taxpayer $$ to purchase private cell phone data?
If you agree that Congress should close this loophole, send a message to your representatives:
"As Schedule Policy/Career is implemented, the stakes for whistleblowers — and the crucial disclosures they bring to light — will make this necessary reform all the more urgent."
Learn more about why Congress needs to empower whistleblowers to fight retaliation in the courts.
We need Congress to close the data broker loophole.
Tell your representatives that it's time for the law to catch up with new threats to our civil liberties.
Last year, we published a Q & A with @virginiajburger.bsky.social on military oaths and unlawful orders.
In the midst of this already illegal war, the President Trump is threatening to ask our troops to break their oaths and carry out devastating war crimes.
"As Congress considers validating this war through dedicated, supplemental defense spending legislation with a $200 billion price tag, it needs to consider that our spending should be guided by thoughtful strategy and supported by the kind of national commitment and deliberation that comes from the regular hearings and legislative processes. Hasty, vague supplemental spending only validates the minimal, poorly executed strategic efforts of this administration."

Our investigation from last month brought to light the story of the Kline family, one of the military families fighting to hold a Texas housing empire accountable:
Seems like Secretary Rubio agrees that countries should put more $$ into their people and less into weapons. President Trump should listen to him.
"Though we’ve reached an unprecedented level of defense spending, our spending has squandered resources on weapons that don’t work while leaving a number of concerning vulnerabilities." -@virginiajburger.bsky.social
Read the latest conversation with @virginiajburger.bsky.social: the United States spends close to $1 trillion annually on the military-- so what is that big spending (of YOUR taxpayer $$) getting us?
President Trump’s new defense budget request is the highest one EVER.
This is another Pentagon budget full of waste, influenced by
contractors and corporate interests rather than the actual needs of service members.
Prediction markets open the door to serious conflicts of interest, and Congress must act fast to stop gov't officials from profiting off these markets. We've published a list of recommendations for how they can do that:
We're deeply concerned by this suit for a number of reasons-- namely, that Donald Trump Jr. advises both Kalshi & Polymarket. He stands to profit off of these platforms' success.
We could make the Presidential Records Act stronger, though, and we've made recommendations to that effect in the past:
This memo simply gets the law wrong. It's not up to the president to decide what laws do or don't apply to him, and preserving presidential records is essential to oversight and transparency.
Presidential records don't belong to the president- they belong to the people.
Seems like Secretary Rubio agrees that countries should put more $$ into their people and less into weapons. President Trump should listen to him.
While we differ on whether the war should have started without Congressional approval, we fully agree with Senator Curtis that it certainly cannot continue past the 60 day window.
We applaud the senator for putting the Constitution over partisanship.
While in office, Pam Bondi oversaw massive abuses of power. Given the administration's track record, we know that's probably not why she is being removed. Whoever the Senate approves to take her place must be committed to actually upholding the rule of law.
