West coast, best coast.
Have y’all seen the Arabic cover for Fight, Magic, Items?
Mario Galaxy is woke.
Yeah, I get why it’s like that structurally—it’s a third act, and works well as a third act—but it revealed why that room to breathe is so important to the series.
I do miss the idle time that made the first game so special, and was still an important part of DE, but is practically gone in Reunion. Those moments in the game that aren’t plot, but let you live in a world that feels full of stories, like Max’s is only one of many.
Tried to convince my kids it was corn niblets. They didn’t believe me.
I think LiS stands well on its own and absolutely did not need a direct sequel, but, since it exists, DE&R, which are basically a single game split across two titles, take an interesting angle in examining Max’s trauma and how grief exists within communities.
The lip flaps are all kinda fucked up, and the animations/environment design all feel severely constrained by budget compared to Double Exposure—and the plot doesn’t have nearly as many nooks and crannies—but I do like the idea of reusing assets, etc. as a way to speed up dev time/balance budgets.

Finished Life is Strange: Reunion yesterday. Just lovely, even for this hardened Bay > Bae veteran. I love how they let M+C grow up, and how the sequels explore grief.
I will never stop laughing at the Mabon scene—hilariously subversive conflict requiring Max to give up control.
Being back to the 9-5 grind has it's upsides, like catching up on podcasts, including @funfactorpod.com's coverage of Symphony of the Night, having recently covered it myself. Particularly interesting is the perspective on how it was continuing to master 2D gameplay amidst the pivot to 3D

*I will virtually kick the butt…
lmao
Sick.
I used ChatGPT once early on to write a stupid gotcha article for Astrolabe about how ChatGPT is dangerous for a free society, and I don't even remember how to login to ChatGPT anymore. The work *is* the point.
lmao, no
We got a peek behind the curtain as the Magic School Lunar fan translation enters its “late phases.” See what @cdrom.ca said about her progress on this Saturn-exclusive RPG:

Whipped together a funky little ultra-budget Helga deck for this weekend.
Having Keruga as a companion sets some fun limitations, so I've tried to stuff the deck with high MV cards to trigger Helga that can also be cast lower on the curve. It's a litttttle like Bant Henzie.

Imagine reading a book about catholicism by a guy who got publicly dragged by the pope.

i thought this was about the mario embargo
Hopefully Cocomelon is better.
Shrek was a new IP. Mario has always been a children’s IP.
Can’t wait for my CarPlay to drive me into a swamp.
Oh, man, and here I was worried the 42 year old critics were going to like the children’s movie about a magic plumber who goes to space.
