Too many people misunderstand social media. It's not about publishing to the world and getting massive followings. If I follow someone who doesn't interact back I'm not interested. That's not 'social'.

My bluesky a/c has a fairly closed group of a few hundred followers/following. That works fine.

the 5kW would generate more than the average UK household uses annually.
Add 2kW to cover most of an EV usage
A heat pump would need another 4kW, which would be a problem. Most houses don't have the roof space for 11kWp of panels!
Getting the end-user price down fast is very important.

Even at current prices, a 5kW package would cost about £12k, which would pay for itself in 10 years. If UK Govt would underwrite interest-free loans to cover that, then people would get (in effect) fixed-price electricity for 10 years, followed by free electricity for the next 20.

The coming legalisation of cheap plug-in systems will be a big step forward.

The next step is an affordable package of say, 5kWp panels + 5kW battery for £5000. (not there yet - currently c. £12k)

That would generate about £1250 worth of power per year. So fund by 4-year interest-free loan

I remember a conference many years ago where someone was waxing lyrical about how they had just developed a phone app for a local holiday accommodation business. Not a website, an app. WHY would someone want to install an app for a business they'll use once? And the developers were so proud!

I work on the basis that if an app provides functionality that I would get from a program on Windows 95 (e.g. a Word Processor, music player) then I'll use an app on the phone for it. Otherwise I want it to work through a browser. I do not need an app to use an online shop.

I remember designing sites so that the homepage was less than 40kB so that it would load in under 10s.

Ah, happy days.

Hang on...the reason Russian oil isn't flowing through Druzhba is that Russia blew it up. Why should it be up to Ukraine to repair it?

Perhaps if the MoD spent money on things it needs, rather than big ticket items that are useless in the modern world, they wouldn't be short of cash? Perhaps not spend £5.5 billion on Ajax AFVs that are late, over price, and can't be used. Oh yes, and can be taken out by a single drone.

Oh come on, what do MPs know about "low-energy chip designs"? They'll get in experts, donors and paid shills, and won't understand a word they say.

A 'chip' to them is what they eat out of newspaper for a photo-op to make them look like one of the people.

Roll on the exhibition in Sain Ffagan in a year or two - "The Crushing of Fascism in Cymru and how it led to Independence"

Yep, but the problems with Dwr Cymru are a matter of incompetence rather than corruption and rip-offs! Not-for-profits can't syphon off the cash for repairs to shareholders. (Although executive salaries might be a bit questionable)

Good question, and useful replies. My diesel Skoda Fabia is on its last legs, and I fancy switching to a small EV, but it would make sense to hire one for a week or two first.

Fair point. That falling debris can cause a lot of damage - devastating entire oil refineries and factories. It's amazing. If Ukrainian debris can do that much damage, think what they could do if the drones WEREN'T intercepted.

But no criminal investigation every time a #Zionist soldier shoots a Palestinian child in the head? Or IDF shells and bombs a hospital in Gaza? Or in Lebanon? Or Zionist terrorists attack Palestinians in the West Bank?

Only utter silence from the Zionist supporter in No. 10

Tbf, if she lives in an apartment, and not in an oil refinery, she can be pretty sure she won't be killed by a drone. Ukraine doesn't use drones on civilians. That's what Putin does.

Or simpler, no dogs where children play.

It's an interesting idea. How many days does it delay the count by? and validating them (poor handwriting?)

Secure* electronic is probably the way to go.

* Really, really secure! But open and transparent at the same time! But we manage secure banking...

Mostly. But even one pile of dog poo sitting there for a kid to roll in is one too many.

Perhaps we should allow dogs on the beach if they're wearing nappies? Then it's guaranteed to be poop free.

But fundamentally a beach is a place where kids play on the ground, like a park or playground or sports pitch, and therefore not a place where dogshit should appear, even if it's sometimes picked up.

True, but the timetable involves

Close of nominations (19 days before polling)
Printing of postal ballot papers
Despatch of ditto

So, it would be difficult to extend the timetable without closing nominations earlier.

Should our system revolve around the postal service to the Falklands?

But messy people don't leave their actual poo on the beach to give interesting diseases to kids.

I received my postal vote for the Senedd Election on 7th May two days ago (in Cymru). Can UK government be blamed for the performance of overseas mail services?

But perhaps time to develop a completely secure electronic 'postal' voting system, given that Denmark has stopped delivering letters.

Seems fair - that fire is a recipe for disaster. You can't just build a campfire in the middle of a layer of leaves - you need a proper cleared area, ideally with a stone surround/base, to prevent the fire spreading.

Should live on raw forragings to be truly ethical. But not plants with feelings.
