โช๏ธ Dedicated guided walk and barcode mode
If you want to skip the visual trials display and jump straight into data collection via barcodes or a guided walk, there are now dedicated pages for these.
๐ท๏ธ More trait data types
Based on popular demand we have added multi-category traits and more customisable stepper/range traits.
๐ Better chart highlighting
To better understand your data GridScore now offers more options for highlighting things like reps, treatments or specific germplasm across all charts.
๐ค Custom row and column names
In some crops, what GridScore calls a row or column might be called something else. Lane and row for example or row and tree.
To accommodate this, GridScore now lets you define custom names for these.
๐ฆ Plot highlighting
You can now highlight specific plots on the main data display. The options include highlighting by reps, treatments, germplasm names and previously scored plot.
๐ Plot and trial locking
Trial owners can now lock a whole trial or specific rows, columns or plots which will prevent any further edits. This can be used to "disable" guard rows or dead plants or to mark a trial as completed.
After a long development phase I'm happy to announce v4 of #GridScore with a completely new user interface and a whole lot of new features!

We've just released a new version of @germinate.hutton.ac.uk with lots of new features. Check them out in the thread ๐งต:

This release also fixes issues on iOS devices where date-based traits sometimes auto-selected the current date. This is an iOS issue, but a new setting to prevent auto progression prevents this.
We have also fixed issues with trait deletion and export format issues.
When exporting in the long-format, you can now include more information about each individual data point. This includes a full timestamp (rather than just the date), the position of this measurement in the set and the person who collected each data point.

Add even more information to each plot by providing treatment, pedigree or a friendly name.
These provide more information to the person collecting the data.
You can also assign a dedicated barcode for each plot that isn't the same as the germplasm name! This helps keep barcode tags shorter.

It's update day for #GridScore ๐
This release includes improvements to:
๐ Add pedigree, treatment, friendly name and barcode info to plots
๐พ Include more information in long-format exports
๐ Prevent automatic date selection on iOS devices

A screenshot of Spriggles where an photo of a barley plot is shown. A polygon is used to select the area of interest for vegetation index estimation.
A screenshot of Spriggles showing the geometry transformed selection of the previous screenshot into a right-angled rectangle. The vegetation has been separated from the background and the vegetation index value of ~75% is shown.
A screenshot of a different barley plot showing poor emergence and very low ground coverage. The same polygon selection is made on this image for vegetation index estimation.
A screenshot of the export screen to GridScore. The trial this image belongs to has been selected and the trait "Vegetation index" is selected to export the extracted numeric values into.
We've been working on a small tool for vegetation index estimation from RGB images called Spriggles

@pauldshaw.bsky.social speaks at the #BreedingValue workshop on advanced #berry breeding and the important part #Germinate plays in the data aggregation and distribution.
Follow along this season for an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of the Commonwealth Potato Collection.
The update is here! Now you can score two plots at a time, export any visualization to PNG and SVG format, utilise barcodes even better and export more data via #BrAPI

Finally, we've added another data aggregation view to the statistics page that highlights the contribution of each project partner to the overall database. This both showcases data origins as well as giving credit to all collaborators.

The content of certain pages of Germinate can now be edited straight through the interface in a live editor to allow for easier modification.

Based on the #BreedingValue project, we've added new trait data visualizations in the form of radar, bubble and heatmap charts for scale-type traits to highlight the differences or performance of individual germplasm.
3/5
Project support adds another level of data granularity allowing you to group together experiments, publications, collaborators and groups generated or involved in a project along with detailed information about the project itself.

Today, we're releasing a new version of #Germinate with a long list of improvements focusing on trait definitions, trait data visualization, project support and general user experience improvements.
