Claude will give you a prompt to feed to ChatGPT which will cause ChatGPT to export its memories about you in a text file, which you can then import into Claude.

Claude's prompt is also a fun way to see what ChatGPT (or any other LLM) knows about you, if you're curious.

PSA: If you are a ChatGPT user and for "some reason" you wish to switch to Claude, you can import the "memories" ChatGPT has about you.

Go to claude.ai/settings/cap... and click on "Start import" roughly halfway down the screen.

They were just repeating the statistically most likely response ("correlation != causation") given that the bag-of-words of the input contained "study", "showing" and "causes". They didn't actually "understand" what they were saying.

As a more serious example, I shared a study on Reddit showing that "whispering a woman's name to a man causes him to perform worse on math tests."

Someone commented "correlation != causation", but surely performing worse on math tests can't cause someone to whisper names to you.

It's common to dismiss LLMs as stochastic parrots, but it's unclear to me that the same criticism can't be applied to a typical human mind. People prompted with an input containing the substring "AI" will often generate a response containing the substring "stochastic parrot".

Something "kids these days" might not know: Before smart phones, people carried pics of loved ones (family, romantic partners) in wallets. Wallets had specially designed slots for photos, and "wallet sized" was a standard size you could have the pharmacy print out your photos in.
