I checked on a Mii and WOAH OH WOW SHINY MOLTRES IN TOMODACHI LIFE: LIVING THE DREAM??!!?

At worst, starter to me meant this Pokémon is special relative to others because it is rare and (traditionally) not capturable in the wild for that game. Imo how these starter Pokémon are presented in a playthrough matters way more for giving them status moreso than the word itself

I don't agree, but this is an interesting take to think about

'Starter' does act as a special designation for me, but that has nothing to do with the word itself and it never gave the impression that the Pokémon that follow are less valuable or that the starter is something to "be rid of" either
