the boys of summer

She’s doing okay for now! She doesn’t want to move around much, but the pain meds seem to be helping and she’s happy, sweet, and eating plenty. We got her some interactive toys she can play with from where she likes to lay down and she’s loving them 😸
Well, baby girl is gonna be a tripod kitty. Prognosis for keeping the leg is very poor, but amputation is the next best thing. She’s booked for surgery in three weeks to let her gain some weight and be in the best condition possible for the procedure! Thanks again to all you kitty cat angels!!
Little sweet pea is at her surgery consult right now!! One million thanks to everyone who’s shared and donated—you all directly made it possible for me to help more kittens this season 🥲
She’ll get the surgery either way even if it all comes out of my pocket, but I was not aware she was injured (let alone the extent of it) when I accepted her for private foster and it’s definitely more than I expected to spend personally. All shares are super appreciated!
Hey friends, popping back on for the first time in ages to share this—I accepted a kitten for private foster who, as it turns out, has a shattered leg (likely from being thrown from a car) and needs urgent surgery to repair it so she has a chance at keeping the leg!

it’s over y’all 😭 won’t catch me forgetting the correct temperature gradient for alligator sex determination ever again
tfw walk and herp with random guy on the trail at work for two hours without realizing they are a world authority on something you said an incorrect fact about to a guest earlier in front of them
a bagworm case made of sticks and leaves attached to a wax Myrtle plant
extra fancy bagworm with all the trimmings!!
how your email finds me
cypress leaf out and dewberry flowers!! it’s fun to notice these things and feel the pulse of the year
saw a cute squirrel treefrog and a fresh baby gator today. spring is early and it’s pretty abnormal but it’s still nice to see spring
I do love seeing alligators. an almost everyday thing that never gets old
Photo: black bellied whistling ducks covered in snow
I know these whistling ducks are sick over this. expanded their range from Central America to New Orleans for some bullshit
lots of practice and learning directly from experts! I’m actually not that adventurous and will only eat wild mushrooms that have no toxic close lookalikes (oysters, chanterelles, wood ears, and a handful of others). caution is always best and I never eat something I’m not 100% sure of!
these are some of the best oysters I’ve ever found :’)
it is Fungus Time
same with Beau!!
bonus outtake
Beau likes to sit on his good boy stool and keep me company every morning during dishes time so the meat man was extra lucky today
Photo: a house gecko in my white sink
every time I make meatballs and leave an unwashed dish in the sink overnight the meat man appears to collect his tax
I very rarely get to be around American crocodiles but it’s always such a treat. like that is a creature. THE creature even

the forbidden and unpinchable cheeks
oh hell yeah thank you!!
thank you, I can’t wait to try it!!
yes they’re my absolute favorite so she specifically requested they include one 🥹
photo; my hand holding a pointed large yellow fruit with smooth skin
no idea about this one either, I type while delightedly squeezing a caviar lime into my mouth

my best friend sent me a box of exotic fruits for my birthday and 1. I am gloriously excited 2. I know what most of them are but have zero idea about this one in case anyone can weigh in
thank you!!
I love when I’m the only person out here and I run into rails but I’m pretty bad at rail ID off the cuff. hope it had a nice scuttle anyway
