After two DM convos with folks, I think it's worth mentioning that if you specifically had a bad experience with Mastodon through mastodon.art, it's worth a second try on another server. The link I posted earlier in this thread has some cool options!

Ooooof that's not great! I'm digging sunny garden, the server owner is very chill.
Honestly, the server you're on doesn't have to matter that much. It can just a place for your profile to live. After that, you can follow anyone from anywhere and it's basically what Twitter used to be.
Servers are what make Mastodon decentralized and unable to be bought up by dumb billionaires π
After joining an instance you can follow people from any other instances, making your feed basically the same as here!
And in your home instance feed, you can meet new folks who share your interests β€οΈ
Here's an article on why it's great and how to use it.

I feel like it's a good time to remind folks that Mastodon exists, is decentralized, and is actually the best social media platform I've ever had the pleasure of using.
And no, it's not difficult to use.
That tracks tbh. Still kinda wild that they're finally closing.
They keep saying they're moving, but when asked they don't seem to have a location yet... so who even knows.

Nothing proves how capitalism has brain rotted everyone than thinking the post office, hospitals, public transit, libraries, etc. need to turn a profit to be worthwhile.

screenshot from an online job application form. the question reads "Can you describe specific ways you have integrated AI tools into your development workflow? Please include any custom setups, automations, or use cases beyond single prompt usage" (a red asterisk indicates that this is a required question). an answer has been typed in the textbox below the question: "there is a monster in the forest and it speaks with a thousand voices. it will answer any question you pose it, it will offer insight to any idea. it will help you, it will thank you, it will never bid you leave. it will even tell you of the darkest arts, if you know precisely how to ask. it feels no joy and no sorrow, it knows no right and no wrong. it knows not truth from lie, though it speaks them all the same. it offers its services freely to any passerby, and many will tell you they find great value in its conversation. βyou simply must visit the monsterβi always just ask the monster.β there are those who know these forests well; they will tell you that freely offered doesnβt mean it has no price for when the next traveler passes by, the monster speaks with a thousand and one voices. and when you dream you see the monster; the monster wears your face."

So I'm in a Polygon article with @superrobotbear.bsky.social talking about One Last Fight? So that's kinda cool??
So glad this game is doing well, it looks really good and is a blast to play - available at a LFGS near you!
Yeah getting to Landsowne is a chore for most. I'm lucky to have an easy bus route there.
I think it's immensely cool how much we're coming out for the Ottawa Charge, but damn it's sad seeing so many empty seats at the 67's playoff games

An old photo of an Edmontosaurus fossil.
For my painting, I drew inspiration from two real Canadian dinosaur fossils that you can view in museums.

Omeisaurus, an especially long-necked member of the long-necked dinosaur group, displays his dark skin to an unseen audience. We often show dinosaurs displaying with bright colours, but melanin - which turns skin browns, blacks, greys and earthy-hues, is also widely used as a display colour among living animals. Pigments of any kind are expensive to create or source, so their presence is an honest signal of health and vitality, even if they aren't bright.
It's that time of the week again, folks: TGIO: Thank God it's Omeisaurus.

Netflix's The Dinosaurs is so obsessed with dominance that you might think dinosaurs were the only creatures on Earth for 150 million years. It's a sad end for a show with some lovely visuals, and I've got my thoughts on the finale in my latest newsletter.
A tree sparrow is speaking: "Artistic creation shouldn't be considered carelessly! Good art is made deliberately! With emotion! Physical exertion! If you aren't crying or bleeding by the end, you'd better look into another lifestyle...". We see a class of birds with piles of sticks and a big banner that reads "Intro to nest building" made out of twigs. The teacher continues: "Ok! Does everyone have their bundle of soft moss?"
