Plant specimens are used as references for botanists to refer to when identifying species. They can also be used to inform others on plants found outside their natural range. Wet specimens are preserved in alcohol. Dry specimens are dried, pressed, and attached to paper

Dried plant material is mounted on a piece of acid free paper. Thin strips of tape are used to affix the plants, making sure no parts will move around too much. Ideally tape on each branching part. Make sure the key features are visible to the viewer. The specimen will be used to identify others of its kind. Finally, attach the label with all importnt information about the plant and where it was found. Include: date, location, name of plant
