Deep End by Ali Hazelwood. A rom-com 2 college student athletes at Sanford who embark on a D-S relationship while trying to juggle school, practice, competition, and friendship. A very spicey novel. I quite enjoyed it.

Service Model by Adrian Tchaikovsky. A robot valet murders his master one morning & begins an odyssey to repair his faulty programming. It’s told from the POV of the robot so the style took getting used to. I really enjoyed it. I haven’t been reading much sci-fi lately & this book makes me miss it.

The Road of Bones by Demi Winters. A story about a girl who stows away with a band of brigands w/o realizing they are the most feared group in the land. She is trying to follow her father’s last words & get to a safe house at the end of dangerous road. Really enjoyed it. I’m waiting for the sequel.

Witchcraft for Wayward Girls by Grady Hendrix.Loved it! Hendrix is one of my favorite authors. The story is about the horror of how these vulnerable girls are treated in addition to the experience of pregnancy itself. When some of the girls band together to help a 14yo the local coven gets involved.

The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden. A dark fairytale about 2 very different women who see the helper spirits that live around the home. There is an epic battle between fear and love. Very good. I’ve got the second book in the series on hold.

The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins. A tension filled story about the 12 adoptees of a godlike figure and his library. It’s good and had me guessing up until the end.

They Never Learn by Layne Fargo. It’s about a college professor who helps clean up the campus by eliminating the abusers, assaulters, peeping toms, etc from campus. Then they start investigating why there are so many suicides on campus. Highly entertaining.

Strip Tease by Carl Hiaason. It’s a novel about Florida, so of course it’s funny! It’s about a stripper, congressman, and big sugar. To say more would give it away.

The God Stalker Chronicles by P C Hodgell. It’s hard to describe, but it was good. I remember reading it as a teenager and it stayed with me due to some vivid imagery. I enjoyed the reread. I also found out it’s part of a series so now I have more to read!

Four Ruined Realms by Mai Corland. The second book in a series about a group of troublemakers recruited to kill the immortal king. Lots of politics and betrayals. Fun read.

Finding Mr Write by Kelley Armstrong. A female writer puts a man’s name down as a pseudonym and it takes off. So she does what every sensible writer does and hires a guy to be the author. It had some really funny bits but one thing threw me out of the book. I like Armstrong’s other books better.

The Ex Vows by Jessica Joyce. Yes, I occasionally read romance novels. They’re like a warm hug to me. This one was of the second chance variety where a former couple gets thrown together when their best friend is getting married and absolutely. Everything. Goes. Wrong. It’s funny. Nice warm hug.

The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie. A good old fashioned fantasy full of violence and gore. This is the beginning of a series and it was the “getting the team together” part of the adventure. Highly entertaining. I will most likely track down the rest of the series.

I worry about the damage he will do while he burns.

The Last One by Will Dean. A woman and her partner depart on a romantic cruise only for her to wake up alone. As in no one else on the ship. I can’t really say more without giving away plot points. It was entertaining.

Lake Silence by Anne Bishop. A well built world where humans are the tolerated pest for the Others. Protagonist was too passive for my taste and got rescued too often but a fun read. Unfortunately my library’s Libby has no other books by this author.

I’ll Be Waiting by Kelley Armstrong. A haunted house novel about a grieving widow trying to make contact with her husband. A seance from high school that went wrong begins to haunt the widow. A good, fun fast read. I had today off from work so I decided to take it easy.

Quicksilver by Callie Hart. Almost DNF due to how unlike able the two main characters were. But once they had sex and got that out of the way, the plot kicked in and it got a lot better.

A House with Good Bones by T. Kingfisher. A creepy, high tension horror novel about roses and vultures. Kingfisher is one of my favorite authors. In addition to horror she also writes fantasy which is also very good. I read it in one day.
