Her years of work as an outspoken advocate for those living with Alzheimer's disease and other dementia continues to inspire action, advocacy and change, and her voice remains as an enduring example in the fight to #ENDALZ.
In 2018, Justice O'Connor shared her own diagnosis of “dementia, probably Alzheimer’s disease” with the American people. She worked to ensure the voices of caregivers & those living with dementia were heard, even after stepping down from the court to spend time with her husband.
Sandra Day O'Connor stands with her right hand raised at her swearing in. Below, a banner reads "Alzheimer's Association Honors Women's History Month."
As we continue #WomensHistoryMonth, we honor Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. Justice O’Connor stood as a trailblazer, as both the first woman on the Supreme Court and an advocate and caregiver for her husband John.
