ironically the best japanese isekai stories are very much the former rather than the latter
that is it to say, i don't know much of the latter that doesn't sound like a cheap wish fulfillment fantasy

i think ultimately it comes down to UY already having a stellar adaptation that didnt really need a refresh. at least it alerted new audiences to its existence
