Hey, don't worry they still have that giant investment in EPIC and Fortnite!

I'm glad Sora is dying, but Disney doesn't deserve to luck out of having to commit to that awful investment.
Epic Games lays off 1000 people, many of which are high development and art folks, due to decreased engagement with Fortnite.
Sora, the AI video platform, is getting shut down.
Both are things in which Bob Iger made high profile huge value deals with. One seemingly had the back of Josh.

A decent bit about how entertainment and quality has gone down under his watch, and folks working under him talking about him being entirely profit driven.
Slightly hidden in Today's @micechatcom.bsky.social update:
"If the chocolatey treats at Disneyland's Candy Kitchens don't taste quite right starting today [...] the kitchens have begun ordering a lower-quality chocolate for dipped treats and candies."

I've already hearing bad things about him! So that's fun.
Yeah, how's that whole thing looking now?

While The Princess and the Frog is imperfect, it feels overall better than the kinda picaresque nature of Moana.

Frozen is a poorly written movie.
ITS LITERALLY IN THE MOVIE SO IT NEEDS TO BE IN A PARK!! is such a terrible way to think about theme parks.
Things like that rarely live up to your expectations, imagination, or memories.
Very true, but weirdly notable for this instance in particular. But I'm not surprised or anything.
Also, having something with Yzma when that role is VERY linked to Eartha Kitt is, a choice.
Third grader approach to theme park design. "I saw it in the movie so it needs to be in the park!"
"This all starts with guest experience, and having been in this business for as long as we have been, we know what constitutes a great guest experience. We know that there are certain attendance thresholds that can potentially deteriorate the experience."

I can't wait to see how much of the water features are going to be value engineered out of this. You'll have the usual suspects tripping over themselves to praise it.
Pokemon has a presentation on the 27th, it's apparently the 30th anniversary of Pokemon (hahahahahaha oh no) and the news of their deal with Universal has been made more clear. I don't think it's that much of a stretch to think we might get news of what they are going to do then.
Seems like there is a ton of projection going on. It's kinda odd.
The clock has run out, and extinction has arrived.
Refreshed to commemorate this Lost Legend, my hand-illustrated inside look at DINOSAUR at Disney’s Animal Kingdom… The real goatasaurus of weird, ambitious, norm-breaking ‘90s Imagineering at its most unhinged & experimental. 🥹
Parks can, and should work on their own, not solely relying on IP from other divisions of the company, and did for decades.

A tribute to a heck of a paleontologist.
An idea that was so ridiculous I had to make it.
In my humble opinion, The Greatest Showman stinks.
Mostly agree with this article but I’d add a couple caveats:
1) Dark Universe is technically “IP,” but it’s mostly reinventions of public domain stories & folklore that are centuries old. For all intents and purposes, it’s an original concept land with *very* loose ties to old Universal movies.
one of the more interesting rumors i've heard about Mr Beast is that there's been a fair number of engagement data faking for the past three or four years, and it has started to come up among advertisers after the awful Beast Game Show had miserable ratings
I remember doing the deal for Epic Mickey, and Bob Iger shooting laser beams out his eyes at me in the Disney dining room. “Don’t let this video game fuck up Mickey.”
Oh well. That’s over.
