Very excited for #igclinicjam25! So excited, in fact, that we held a trial jam to see how well our team of internet randos worked together. We're quite happy with the results and would love for you to give it a try!

This was supposed to be my #gamedev escapist account, yet there are some things you can't escape from. In the face of oppression, I find it my duty to speak up with whatever platform I have. Please add your voice to ours, for the Erdogan regime may render us voiceless if they get their way.

Fight scene and cards are now working in the new resolution. Lucky for me a lot of the code was reusable #gamedev #indiedev #solodev #deckbuilder #tcg #GodotEngine

Refactored the side panel info layout to be reusable across scenes, and applied it to the bracket scene. Improved the bracket node placement to fix overlaps at higher node counts. #gamedev #indiegame #deckbuilder #tcg #solodev #indiedev #Godot

I got a rough version working here, and yeah it should scale to different screens hopefully.

For your "you win" text if you're using js maybe @media css selectors will work for your case?

I entirely removed the card text from cards themselves and made a panel on the side to sidestep my text size problem. #pixelart #GodotEngine #solodev #yugioh #deckbuilder #cardgame #indiedev

My first instinct is to have a separate panel to the side for displaying long card descriptions like in this pic and make it scrollable so I can use the bigger font

I think I could expand Godot's richtextlabel node to handle that. But if I try to make my font size smaller to fit current card frame it comes out blurry looking and unreadable because there aren't actually enough pixels on screen to create the letters (idk if I'm explaining this correctly).

I'm trying to get the card/collection scenes to work with my new screen size, and this time I'm fully utilizing Godot's control nodes. Resizing text on card descriptions seems to be a problem that I need to solve.

Brotato is much more engaging and replayable for me because the focus is on "numbers, optimize numbers," rather than chasing flashy effects and preset synergies, like many other survivor-likes fall into. It also helps that they have characters that incentivize optimizing nearly all different numbers

Setting up the project theme to make working with the UI easier in the future. A lot of people complain about "tutorial hell," but sometimes diving in without guidance means you miss crucial information. I was doing everything manually before! #gamedev #solodev #indiedev #tcg #deckbuilder #cardgame

I adjusted the project's native resolution to 640x360, which ended up causing several issues that I'm now working to fix. In hindsight, this should have been step zero, but making mistakes is learning. #gamedev #GodotEngine #pixelart #indiedev #cardgame #deckbuilder

I added cards to the packs, along with animations for pulling them. Then, I integrated everything into the deck-building screen so you can use the cards you pulled to ... deck build! #deckbuilder #gamedev #solodev #tcg #yugioh #solodev

For me 1 transitioning into 4 in a controlled environment as soon as you give the basics works the best. I want to take the training wheels off and play myself quickly but the game shouldn't let me fall too much before I get to the good parts

Man, factorio is great but but it's taking up so much of my hobby dev time. It's like crack in the form of neverending logistics puzzles

Thanks for the comments!

White text with dark border works well with this color scheme, like ones on UI elements on the sides. I was thinking about styling cards that way too, perhaps along with a different font(?).

I really like the way your game looks btw, like civilization but more whimsical

Hey thank you for hosting #TurnBasedThursday ! I'm working on a tournament style roguelike deckbuilder focused on combos and unique interactions with your opponent. I'm looking forward to see what everyone else is working on

Stardew style neighbor game, but instead of farming you are a tcg player, npcs want cards and merch as gifts, cards are procedurally generated and rotated out for sets and there is an annual grand prix you try to qualify for each year. "Mines" are just a trip to the locals, and fishing stays as is
