YES! Silver lining! After fully wiping the system I was able to get Linux Mint running. I don't know what ASUS fucked up to make that a challenge with the config the laptop shipped in, but now it works I think. Suuuuuuuuck it Microsoft!

Having to reinstall because Windows Update fucked up and refuses to install new updates. The amount of things that annoy me in this process because Microsoft hates it's users, power users especially... 😡

(Having to run Windows at all because I fucked up when buying my laptop. It's a long story.)

An X-ray scan of the 386 chip. It shows a square with a grid of 132 pins. In the middle is a square, the silicon die. Blue wires connect the pins to the chip. Spikes stick out all around the perimeter of the package.

Intel's 386 processor was popular in late 1980s microcomputers. From the outside, the 386 chip is a boring ceramic square. But I obtained a 3-dimensional CT X-ray scan from Lumafield, revealing six layers of complex wiring hidden inside the ceramic package. Let's take a closer look... 1/N

You’ve had success having a point of view on your show, as Colbert has, at least in the ratings. Late night used to be broad, unifying entertainment. I know Jay Leno recently spoke on this topic, about making a show for everyone …

I’m going to take a hard pass on taking comedic advice from Jay Leno.

John Oliver just says the thing. I'm happy for him.

Very simple example, but you can do some very complex stuff with this.

People have long used the term "programming" about manually entering in drum patterns in drum machines. I'm not here to argue with that.

I'm here to express my my joy that in the latest version on Renoise you can now program drum patterns (and any other instrument) in Lua, like so:

Definitely not ideal. I'll take it over all the weirdness of Javascript though.

A picture of headphones where the foam pads have disintegrated, user asks why thus happens after only a year.

Highly up voted comments suggests the users mixes suck so bad the headphones would rather die than continue playing them.

Let's talk about these two department store owners: brother and sister Louis Bamberger and Caroline Bamberger Fuld. From Newark, New Jersey.

They are random people, basically. But in the late 1920s, with fascism taking over Europe, they made a choice that profoundly changed the world: 🧵
