I just went to Autozone & had them
test old batt then bought a new one. No dealer/warranty for me. But good to let them pay if they will.

I have a jump pack…but I usually keep it in my truck since that’s what I usually have to jump (since I drive it less frequently). Thinking I’ll get a second one to leave in the cargo…though less urgent now with fresh battery.
Nope, 12V died. It has jumpstart studs under the hood, but the battery itself is in the back. The big batteries are under the back seat.
A red Fiesta bowl filled with gumbo. Okra, shredded chicken, Andouille, and other good things are visible with the broth & rice. A bottle of garlic Tabasco is visible behind.
Gumbo. It’s what’s for dinner.
Agreed. There may be a mechanical override somewhere but we couldn’t figure it out the other night in a dark parking lot. My BIL couldn’t reach the jumpstart studs under the hood with his cables so we were going to try going straight to the batt. Ended up having to go get my jumpstart pack instead.
It’s the same issue Tesla gets beat up over with their doors. As we get more “fly by wire” systems in modern cars, they require power to operate properly. The power liftgate can be owned & closed manually or via power, but the latch release is a button under the handle, not a mechanical release.
Pretty much.
Even better: you apparently can’t open the back hatch if the battery is dead. Which, uh, makes it hard to get to said battery to replace it. 🤦♂️
Ended up backing into the garage after jump start so I could leave the hatch open while I went out to get the new battery today.
Replacing it required removing the floor, removing the spare tire (hand knob), removing the polystyrene ring the tire sits on, removing the metal frame the spare fastens to (four nuts), disconnecting the terminal cables, disconnecting an electrolyte overflow tube, & unbolting the battery tiedown.
I now know where the small battery is in my plug-in hybrid.
It’s under the spare tire. 🤪
Also the computer apparently really doesn’t like a dead battery & it required using a code reader to reset the check engine light after replacing said battery. 🤪🤪🤪
Some days my job is very cool. 😎 Makes up for the days that aren’t.
Congrats! That sounds like a blast!
Best day of the week, at least for the scenery. 😉
I love the excuse that it was too big of a security risk for Erika to be there but was fine for the freaking VPOTUS to be. 🤣
Former colleague & boss of mine recently told me he’s being required to use AI for everything at his job & feels like he’s training his replacement. Good luck with finding something new & hopefully better.
Cooking for others is a love language!
You musta done something right, because…dayum. Happy for you. 👊
Hey, how’d you get a video of me?!? 😜
Not as nicely as yours apparently…I’m just doing yardwork.
I haven’t a clue where my actual card would be. Maybe my mother has it with my old report cards & baby pictures. 😂
You can verify your registration online here though: www.sss.gov/verify/
Same here (early 90s)…pretty sure I registered to vote at same time.
The other argument I’ve seen is that if we can verify THIS automatically then there are a bunch of other things (voter registration, citizenship verification, etc.) that could also be implemented to remove hoops to jump through…but we’re automating THIS one that benefits government.
I kinda get that I guess, but I agree with you that this doesn’t seem a big deal & it eliminates the potential for getting in trouble for forgetting/failing to.
I’ve had to provide proof I registered more than one in my career on background checks & such (there is a lookup method).
The only semi-cogent argument against I’ve seen is that it removes at least the semblance of choice. Yes it’s been required to register since 1980, but it required an active action & in theory, you could refuse to (and accept the consequences of doing so). So now you can’t refuse to.
Thank you…she’s been out of surgery for a few hours & doing well per my BIL.
Thanks! Sounds like she’s out of surgery & doing well.
And it’s been a long time since I did a drop off, that’s for sure.
Up & out even earlier than usual. My sister’s having surgery this morning, so hanging out with youngest nephew - who got up to see her off - until it’s time to take him & his brothers to school in a few hours.
