Grad school is… the thing that it is. And also I wonder if it would have been less that thing if I’d had more audiobooks when I was in it. Great narrators are key to getting started. Curious: Do you record yourself reading your own work?

When I finished grad school my brain was broken. After three brutal years reading meant feeling fear and shame and a sense of failure because I could never read enough. That’s when I started reading (yes, reading) audiobooks. They offered healing and restored my joy in reading.
