A large data center is being proposed for Rural Hall in Forsyth County.

This is marketed as “economic development,” but these data centers consume massive amounts of energy at the expense of public infrastructure, and the permanent jobs they do provide are far fewer and lower-paying than their scale implies.

This follows a pattern North Carolina workers are all too familiar with: growth for big business, and costs for everyone else.

The proposal now heads to the local planning board.

There are four ways you can get involved and take action right now: sign a petition, go to a community meeting, join us for a sign making event, and show up to the local planning board with our signs.

Clothing Swap Guidelines (part 1)

ALL Gender and ALL Sizes Welcome! We all struggle with sizing at some point. If you have clothing in an unusual size, we want it!

When choosing what to donate think about what you'd want to swap with friends! We are looking for clothes you are proud of but aren't quite you. Staple clothes are great but be choosy.

We especially want clothes that feel affirming!
Coats and outwear
Dresses and Suits
Shoes & Boots
Jewelry and Ties

The Clothing Swap starts at 12:00pm in the Green Street Chapel Room (up the concrete steps to the small side door).

You are NOT required to bring clothes in order to take new clothes, but please be considerate about how much you take!

Crystal Towers is a 201 unit apartment building in Winston-Salem that has served disabled and elderly members of our community since opening in 1972 as a Section 9 Public Housing complex. Residents of Crystal Towers, organized through their tenant union Crystal Towers United, have long advocated for safe and dignified living conditions. Tenants have reported widespread issues including mold, leaky plumbing, and pest infestations. While Fox8 reported in 2018 that Crystal Towers needed an estimated $7 million in improvements, ASPIRE (formerly known as the housing authority of Winston-Salem) says the property needs about $40 million in maintenance and repairs. In addition to concerns about basic living standards, Crystal Towers residents demand transparency from ASPIRE about the redevelopment of their building.
