Thankfully the game was a success, and we went break even within a month. No one had to leave our studio 🙏🏼The past two years we have been full speed ahead on Moomintroll: Winter’s Warmth. Much thanks to the Norwegian Film Institute and @wingsfund.me.

It was a new Moomin game, working title “Winter’s Warmth”. Obviously we had high hopes for Snufkin’s success and wanted to keep working with this wonderful world. These stills are surprisingly close to how the game has ended up, apart for the now super weird-looking Moomintroll character design 👀

Needless to say it was an immensely stressful period for everyone, and we ended up taking a large bank loan to keep going. The last thing the team did before release was what we called “panic jam”. We made a teaser and pitch of our next game, which we had been in pre-production for in a short while.

I can’t believe today is two years since we released Snufkin. That game took over 4 years to make and when we released it, we had completely run out of money. On launch day all staff was in “temporary layoff”, a system we have here in Norway, not knowing if they would return or not.
