Palantir put out the most cartoonishly evil statement possible. They’re so arrogant and self-confident they don’t seem to believe their fascistic plans can be opposed.

We must get rid of Palantir altogether.

There needs to be a giant billboard in every major American city that touts this. In any other era except this suicidal science administration, this would be a miraculous, wondrous thing.

My initially thought this was an insect when I first heard it, then I saw this large-ish brown bird crashing through the reeds and realised it was a Savi's Warbler! Incredible breath control!

Bizarre journal club yesterday.

Journal IF>10. Qualified authors. Exciting topic.

But figures chock full of clipart, confusing axes, vague captions, and overly complex models.

Then we realized we were parsing ai slop.😑

Colleagues: 🙏 don’t put your name on this stuff.

I am so excited to share our new findings with you! We provide the structural evidence for a direct protein-to-DNA information pathway, showing how a bacterial enzyme 'reads' its own structure to 'write' DNA. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

Despite the bad luck, we've still managed to surpass 100 species! Now we're off to the coast for the rest of the day.

Can you believe that until now there were more genomes sequenced for the woolly mammoth than for living African elephants?

Today, we bring you the first genomic, continent-scale analyses of 232 high-quality genomes of both species, the savanna and forest elephant.

Here's the thing about USAID: it was illegally dismantled, but it's still... supposed to exist. And we can either fix things, or we can... accept a future where the richest country in history hordes its unlimited wealth and lets people starve everywhere? This is, like, actually under our control

The fact that tenure cases involve votes at all is absurd. All the quantifiable metrics in the world, but no — what matters most is whether you pass someone’s idiosyncratic vibe check.

Mariam ‘failed’ up and so will you.

It's really difficult to publicly share a promotion or tenure denial. I have a lot of respect for Larisa for talking about this openly.

I hope this will push tenured faculty to reflect on what they can do to make sure that tenure standards are applied consistently and fairly at their institutions.

Surprise inspection finds ICE stuffing migrants 'like sardines' into a facility with no bed, showers Three lawmakers visited a Mesa ICE facility unannounced and found overcrowding, with 250 detainees packed into rooms "like sardines"

“I’ve never experienced anything like this in my entire life,” Rep Adelita Grijalva (D-AZ) said, fighting back tears. The Tucson Democrat described the way people were laying down inside as “like sardines.” “It is frightening in there,” Grijalva said. “It is disgusting.”

Wildlife trade drives animal-to-human pathogen transmission over 40 years

Wildlife trade drives animal-to-human pathogen transmission over 40 years

New in @science.org ‼️ In the most comprehensive study to date, we show that wildlife trade is driving animal-to-human zoonotic spillover at a planetary scale, with +1 spillover per host every 10 years. Live animal markets and illegal trade pose even greater risks. 🔓 www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

All that’s going on in the science world - remember that US Forest Service is being decimated and people are losing jobs, long term experiments, and (for all of us) control over our national forests.

Trump administration orders dismantling of the U.S. Forest Service Late Tuesday afternoon, with the subtlety of a wrecking ball and the morality of a foreclosure notice, the Trump administration announced the most devastating attack on the U.S. Forest Service in the ...

"One hundred and ninety-three million acres of your national forests... The largest public land agency in the country. Just handed, on a silver platter, to the people who’ve spent their entire careers trying to destroy it.

And they did it with a press release..."

Speaker Johnson, we are calling on you to bring the House back to DC IMMEDIATELY!

The Cabinet needs to invoke the 25th Amendment. But Congress can’t just sit on its hands and wait for that to happen when the President is threatening to commit war crimes TONIGHT.
