If you watch a lot of local TV news in the morning like I do, you really see how traffic violence is background noise in our daily lives. Crashes in the traffic report, stories about pedestrians being hit, cars into buildings, road rage. The danger on our roads is a constant feature.

I have worn On sneakers nearly every time Ive left the house for about a decade and will continue to do so for as long as I live and they are still available for purchase. Just incredible shoes. And I sold shoes for a living for many of my younger years so Im VERY picky lol
oil may be destroying the environment, but it's important to remember that it's also driving conflicts and propping up some of the worst regimes in human history
Yes, I agree, that's a good way to put it
Perhaps there is a distinction between comfort game and cozy game that people should try to make. Like, Elden Ring is my go-to comfort game as an easy pick when my brain is tired (randomizer go brrr) but I don't think I can go so far as to call it cozy lol
😘
So you decided the best way to counter the narrative of the whiney boomers who were being over dramatic and exhausting was to do exactly what they were doing over here as well? Nice 👍 way to go. You're clearly Not Like The Other Boomers.
A reminder that humans in cars - notably omitted from this thanks to motonormativity - kill 1.2m people every year
one of the most frustrating things about there being “no jobs” is that we all walk around and see the work that needs to be done. our cities are crumbling, our people need help, our world is dying. there’s so much work to be done, if only it were good for the balance sheet
She fucking killed an entire family while speeding in her Mercedes SUV and they’re not going to even take her license away??
WE WON. Celebratory gathering at 5pm @ Pattison HQ, to unpack our victory and next steps. Hootsuite ICE protest is ON as planned at 3pm, let’s crank up the heat🧊
This is bullshit, no Canadian company should be able to profit off of ICEs atrocities. Helping to provide them with a new concentration camp is outrageous and we should all be boycotting Jim Pattisons many businesses over this: www.ctvnews.ca/vancouver/ar...
It's so depressing how many people have been lost to various kinds of internet madness over the years. And who knows how many can ever find their way back from it.
I often wonder how many of these are bots, especially when they seem to have no other personality or talking points. But even if they're not, they might as well be and they deserve about as much of my attention. Either way they just seem like bait designed to waste peoples time and energy 😩
Yes that is the reality of the situation but would all the millions of people who voted for him agree? Perhaps you can sleep on this and gain some insight into how people view their representatives and their actions differently based on if they agree with what they're doing or not.
Would it help if they said "benevolent dictator" instead? Same idea. 🤷♂️ We all like the people who quickly do the things we want. We simply don't all agree on what those things should be. Some people like Trump because he does their things fast and we like Mamdani because he does ours.
SUVs and big Utes "are 44 per cent more likely to kill an adult pedestrian or cyclist in a crash compared with a sedan, and 82 per cent more likely to kill a child" www.theage.com.au/national/vic...
The solution is never going to be placing blame on pedestrians for being hit.
Proven solutions:
-Narrow roadways
-Short crossing distances
-Protected infrastructure
-Auto-enforcement cameras
-Pedestrian islands
-Curb bumpouts
-4to3 conversions
-Bollards
-Boulevard 🌳🌳🌳
-Speed limiters on 🚗 🚙 🛻
Agreed - Tucker Carlson is the most terrifying potential option that comes to my mind.
Denver yesterday
In Monrovia, California, protesters are purchasing 17¢ ICE scrapers from Home Depot and immediately returning them to create long lines and slow down the entire store. Their aim is to disrupt sales and convey a message opposing ICE raids occurring in their neighborhood.
I will never accept one persons anecdote over years and years of studies and research regarding the net positives 🤷♀️ i don't actually care if something inconveniences you personally vs the greater good for society.
Sending much love from Canada. We often get too comfortable up here thinking it could never happen to us. I would rather learn from your grassroots resistance example to be better prepared to fight for our own freedoms just as hard as you're fighting for yours 🩷

This person said we all think "driving is a moral failing" and that's not how I view things. I am mad that we have created a system where many people have to drive, or think driving is the only safe or efficient option to get where they need to go.
(If you drive a lifted Ram though, fuck you)
The anti-car brigade is really fucking weird. The way they act like someone who drives regularly kills babies and kicks old ladies down the stairs is really fucking bizarre.
It's not that every individual driver is a murderous asshole (I'm not!). It's that car dependency as a whole is dangerous. It's that cars are deadly when they hit people. It's that our society prioritizes drivers above all else. It's about a system that is dangerous for anyone not in a car.
My in-laws were bemoaning the cost of their cars. They live in urban sprawl where there is little around them. On one income, which is about $40k a year they have their insurance due for their two cars. $2700.
Cars keep people poor and kill cohesive communities
Too many of us are waaay too confident that we're not just one bad election behind you guys. We should be learning from the grassroots movements you're building instead of being smug assholes. But also, get that lady an offline hobby STAT
My Canadian ass is filled with second hand embarrassment 😭 sorry!! Not all of us are "good ones" either, clearly
